They entered the golden gate holding each others hand

Their earthly time spent in complete disarray

He cheated

She walked away

Life on earth spent far apart

Because

Sin's of the unfaithful heart

He died thirty years before she

Her time finally arrived

Hoping to find him, her unspoken plea

Standing by Peter at the pearly gate

Her lover

Her never forgotten soul mate

They entered the golden gate holding each others hand

Together they will live eternally

In God's promised land.

"Love isn't really love if it disappears when it sees the beloved change or if it disappears when the beloved leaves. Oh no, love is a constant and unchanging light that shines on storms without being shaken; it is the star that guides every wondering boat...."

Who am I to ague with the Bard?

Nicely done, beautiful poem, loved it.

Hello Ruby - I agree that love does not follow a bunch of rules. I have heard that the heart wants what it wants. Plenty of emotion packed into this piece of poetry.

      Sweet poem, Ruby.

Hopefully, the man had a 30 year case of hemorrhoids while waiting for his soul mate. Maybe, he learned his lesson.

You did not mention how much fun she was having during those last 30 years. I chose to believe it was the party of a lifetime!!

      Nice job, Ruby Jean.

Interesting, Ruby. I'm not sure I'd want to rejoin someone who cheated on me and broke my heart. Then again, Peter knows better than I. At least there's no sin in Heaven, so maybe they can share the love she yearned for on Earth.
