True Friendship Is A Gift
Where are your friends
When your down and out?
When you get to the point,
You feel you want to shout,
From the loneliness inside.
You begin to doubt,
Where are your friends,
When your down and out?
A true friend is measured
By what's inside,
Love, caring and true friendship,
One just cannot hide.
To always be there,
Through thick and thin,
Knowing at the end of all battles,
That we are going to win.
To have a true friend,
Is a gift indeed.
Knowing they will be there,
For you when you have a need.
Even if it's just,
A listening ear,
To be there for you,
Just to hear,
What you have to say.
Knowing they'll never tell,
Anyone else and,
To know and sense all's well.
To know inside,
That somebody cares,
Is a wonderful feeling,
That nothing compares.
Are you that kind of friend,
To someone out there?
Who will take the time,
To show that you care?
There are people out there,
Who feel down and out,
And just need a friend,
To help ease their doubt,
About things in their life,
That may bring them down.
Just to know they have a friend.
Who will be around.
And stick by their side,
What 'ere comes their way.
Having a hug or a smile.
And a gentle word to say.
To comfort those who feel down,
Just knowing they have a friend around,
Can make all the difference,
In someone's life,
And help ease the pain,
Or suffering or strife.
I choose to and hope,
To be a true friend.
To be there for someone,
A helping hand to lend.
What is your choice?
Who will you be?
A friend close by to help,
Or someone no one will see?
My hope is that all,
Will have at least one true friend.
Someone you can count on,
Right to the very end.
This poem is dedicated to my dear friend Carol. She is the meaning of a true friend. I only hope people can find a friend such as her in their lives. Thank you Carol for being the best friend anyone could ever have. Love you lots!
