~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chasing blue sky across lovely terrain
Spirit galloping whilst the rain
Drenched, she tumbled to a sprain.
Bold rider hastily reined by her side
Heroism, tenaciously applied
With chivalry, he carried her inside.
The pain of an ankle twisted and bruised
Forgotten by flutters, her heart he did move
Inquiring politely a return, she approved.
Sonnets between them recited aloud
Her locket of hair, snipped as a vow
She, unescorted, provoking highbrows.
Unconscious devotion against decorum
Never obliging to any outcome
Never concerned with what may become.
After requesting a private talk
The talisman's charm concluded to walk
Abandoned she cried, left in shock.
Wondering when he would soon return
A bewildered departure still hard to discern
Why he was urged, her heart did yearn.
Felicity superior full of perfume
Now seemingly dull without any bloom
Until came invitation to a London ballroom.
But upon her arrival with fervor so bright
Despite letters unanswered, night after night
Marianne finally sees truth in plain sight
Willoughby's coldness, again, taking flight.
      Clever idea to write a poem based on an excerpt from a classic novel. Well done, my friend! Aloha and blessings from SE Washington!
      Thank you Hawaiian, one of my favorite pastimes is learning about Jane Austin characters. Elinor Dashwood and Elizabeth Bennett are my favorites!
      What a beautiful poem, so reminiscent of the Brontes' and of old classic literature. I really enjoyed this.
      This really is quite clever and well-done. It's been awhile since we have seen anything new from you; I hope that changes soon.
