Before tossing the twist tie

In the trash to be driven away

Whispers - no more twist ties

________

Why am I saving these

Drawer overflowing with ties and plastic doodads

Words - No more twist ties

_________

You save twist ties too

Laughing conspiratorially my psychic sister reveals it

Alarmed future revealed

oh no

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about this poem which reflects both my sister's and my feeling that we are compelled to save twist ties because of some coming disaster.

This made me smile. I always feel a twinge of guilt when I throw away a twist tie, as I was brought up to save absolutely everything. Reality is that one can only use so many twist ties.

      Thought provoking poem - thanks!

Welcome to the club Rosemay! Just can't bring myself to throw anything that might be useful in the future, when they might not be making them anymore...
