Two Sons
In 1994, just one month shy of his 17th birthday, my son Corey died. There is not one day that passes that I do not think of him. This poem is for him.

Two Sons
Two Sons
Grew nine months
under my heart
Born one minute apart
Close
So closely linked
Best friends
Allies
Alibis
One spoke for the other.
Never betrayed their bond.
Punishments meant for one
Meted to both.
So closely linked.
One with an easy smile
Loving touch
Huge heart
Full of forgiveness
One a charmer,
Tender,
Clever and
Full of humor
A compliment to his twin.
So closely linked.
A grandson shares his name
I see a spirit in him
That will never be lost
Bonding him with an uncle he'll never meet,
but knows in his heart.
So closely linked.
