Unfinished Love
The flame of unfinished love burns and flickers
Fueled by each passing moment of life
Diminishing the heart in density
Like hot, red coals slowly turning black
Given enough time...
Memories feed the fire of past desire
Jealousy felt, serves to feed regret
Tainting the white wings of love
Which once took free flight
But now clipped and left for dead
On a scratchy, sandy, beach
Where they await the evening tide
In silence but for lapping waves
Stealthily returning them to the ocean deep.
