my eyes leak periodically--

worn washers i suppose,

the erosion of joy

in fragments.

they give me away,

these eyes of mine,

when i least wish them to.

but swiping at tears

is a dead giveaway,

so i let them dry on my cheek

unannounced.

maybe you won't notice them either.

Tears can indicate emotions both happy and sad. Hope most of yours are happy ones Audrey. I liked the wording of "worn washers."

Such a Beautiful poem Audrey, I cry at times as well mostly when I'm watching movies that are heart wrenching, however I also cry for good reasons as well when I'm very happy!

It's surprising how people don't notice if you just leave tears to dry. A lovely poem.

I cried for quite sometime when I moved to Croatia and nobody understood me then or do now so my life changed and all those tears have disappeared. Great poem.

My eyes leak more easily than they ever have and I find that is okay. I loved this expression and the poem that flowed from it.

Such a poignant verse; beautiful but sad.

I must admit, though, that my eyes leak more these days, always with emotion caused by my children or grandchildren - in a good way. Getting to be a complete softy in my old age!

      Lovely. Ann
