my eyes leak periodically--

worn washers i suppose,

the erosion of joy

in fragments.

they give me away,

these eyes of mine,

when i least wish them to.

but swiping at tears

is a dead giveaway,

so i let them dry on my cheek

unannounced.

maybe you won't notice them either.

      Audrey,

You are more prolific than ever. Each time I read one of your poems, I get chill bumps for I can so relate to the messages. Awesome as always and V+, too!

I don't know why, but that picture breaks my heart. There are so many silent sufferers in the world...and of course you captured it perfectly.

Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

Sad!! but I love this line

      "my eyes leak periodically"

you captured the mind of a sour heart.

We cry to ourselves without telling anyone...and sometimes there's really no one who can understand. Beautifully expressed and true.

Oh Audrey, this touched me, so many times we hide our pain/tears. Brilliant. I am so glad your muse returned!

Such a poignant verse; beautiful but sad.

I must admit, though, that my eyes leak more these days, always with emotion caused by my children or grandchildren - in a good way. Getting to be a complete softy in my old age!

      Lovely. Ann

My eyes leak more easily than they ever have and I find that is okay. I loved this expression and the poem that flowed from it.

Very sad but beautiful Audrey. I especially love the first two lines: "my eyes leak periodically--

      worn washers i suppose"

I cried for quite sometime when I moved to Croatia and nobody understood me then or do now so my life changed and all those tears have disappeared. Great poem.

The depth of emotion can be found in the reflection of a tear. Beautiful piece Audrey.

Suffering in silence is so darn criminal...they ought to talk it out!

It's surprising how people don't notice if you just leave tears to dry. A lovely poem.

Such a Beautiful poem Audrey, I cry at times as well mostly when I'm watching movies that are heart wrenching, however I also cry for good reasons as well when I'm very happy!
