"Up Close" by Cathy Nerujen

(This is a romantic poem about a growing love for a very sweet and special person in my life. Her name is Fehl.)

I’ve loved you from a distance -
now I want to be up close –
so close to you – that finally
this thing I can propose –
we've known each other for so long
we’ve laughed and cried and smiled
but deep within this friendship, Babe
you drive my senses wild.

Your soul it wants companionship –
your soul it has a sound –
it hears my thoughts –
and feels my words –
my feet float off the ground –
Into my heart – your love it flows –
my senses tell me “yes” –
you are this girl that loves me back –
that I want to possess.

Up Close - a love poem by Cathy Nerujen
Up Close - a love poem by Cathy Nerujen

You telepath you songs of love –
your voice it calls my name –
so quiet yet so open – and
my heart – it feels the same –
my soul is so in love with you –
so close and yet so far –
my Love She is a Tree
and now - My Love she is a Star.

Some cups lie dry and empty –
yet my cup fills up with Love
I love it when I chase you –
like the falcon and the dove –
you know that when I catch you –
I’ll devour you all the way –
but you’ll love me as I snatch you –
as there’s little else to say.

I've loved you from a distance - now I want to be up close...
I've loved you from a distance - now I want to be up close...

This thing we do – this way we are –
we know it's meant to be
you take my hand and take this girl –
you love so totally –
let’s be as one – and live this love –
let’s show our true affection –
I want this ship of love to turn
and aim in your direction.

Up Close” is a poem dedicated to Fehl Dungo. Marifel published a wonderful volume of poetry in a book titled "Toss and Turn". She is also listed in the Top 5 Bloggers of the Philippines. I am so proud of her.

H mkiaconis, thank you for this. :)

Rictwf!!! Ow wow, it is so wonderful to see you back here again. I missed seeing you around. I hope you are okay and fine. I missed your recent poems, they always are fantastic. Thank you for the nice comments. The book is slowly "filling up" as writers would say. I need more poems to put in it. Take care Rich. (hugs) :D

Hi Mentalist acer, This poem was a re-write as I had trouble with some parts...I am so fussy with poetry, you'd think it was nuclear physics or something, but it is poetry. LOL. Intimate prayer is also how I would describe it too, but it is more than an offering...it is connected into other things...amazing things...

Hi Nikki: yes, blaise25 is Fehl Dungo,a great poet and friend...I love the flow of poetry, the better the flow, the stronger the message, and the more powerful the poem turns out...well...for me. Yes I reference a few of my other poems here. Which is um...kind of weird for me. But some of what is said in those poems has a connection here to this poem and it's message.. Wow, Nikki thank you for the excellent memory...wow, you get a prize for that from me. LOL. Mwah. Yes I am just trying to connect things to each other in my poetry...sort of closing a kind of circle somewhat. Nikki you are awesome. :)

Hi Teylina: thank you for the comments. I guess everyone can tell this is similar to my last poem... and Nikki got it. Though I used the same photo at the top of these two hub poems, and with different words on them to link them. I am happy you are liking my poetry. ^_^

Have a great day, Augustine. ^_^

Hi Poetic Fool, with me flow and meter are everything in a poem, if it a rhyming one. But even in non-rhyming ones it can be lovely too. Thank you for the comments. :)

Hi Little Kim, Aw you are beautiful for saying that, just like Poetic above top. Thank you for loving my Up Close poem. ^_^

Mwah! Yay I got a kiss from Cathy! thanks. Yea I remembered the titles as I was reading this, that is really cool. I like how you did it, and it fit in the poem just like a normal sentence would. if it wasnt titles to your other poems. which is why it worked here so well. I'm glad you did that.

Hi Bella, I read some super awesome hubs about the Ballerina on your pages and came back with coffee in hand and 2 comments here. Heh. Thank you. The person that it's written about has read it and was blown away by it. I try to make poetry natural without being clunky or awkward. And I like meter and rhythm. Kind of a bit similar to dance too, now that I think of it.

Thank you Bella, for loving my poetry. You are a great writer. Congrats on publishing your book too. I am currently working on my first poetry book. Best wishes Bella.

      smiles back at you:)

Nikki: Mmh! Thank you! LOL. Oh it's a peck, okay. Yes you did remember my titles from my other poems. Like how amazing s that? You are (besides Cassy and Blaise / Fehl) the only person to probably remember my titles. You just impress me more and more, Nikki. You are a true fan. Um..it fitting in the sentence like a normal sentence would...yes..and that takes some thinking and planning.

I have two poems, one called "My Love she is a Tree" about Cassy, and "My Cup fills with Love", and I reference them both here in this poem, more or less. Well I am glad I did that too, Nikki. Hehehe. You are terrific. You miss nothing.

My poetry, I write them in my head, then on paper, then on the computer. Wonder how you write your poetry...must chat more about that again, Nikki. I am always fascinated how a good writer writes. And you write poetry and stories and lots of different subjects. I am cooking evening supper here. Take care. Thanks for the email too. ^_^

Cathy Nerujen and Fehl Dungo, a magical pair of names

A wonder of a friendship, a dream for loving games

A realized lifelong vision, a closeness no refrain

A sense of wild and lyrical, a sense of much to gain

There is no love much grander, a pure and simple aim

Hand in hand through life, four wings of much acclaim

A most majestic love, a passion to exclaim

Two as one together, two lives to picture frame...

I stand in deepest awe, a friend who thus proclaims

The love you shared with us, an ever brightest flame...

      ...

Thank you Cathy for sharing such a beautiful and inspirational love and friendship....

Bill, love comes from within, it comes from the heart for me...it comes from that awesome feeling of knowing that someone in the world feels a love that is so strong. If the love is strong enough...it is felt in the words of the poetry...and yes...it is quite beautiful like the person I wrote this Up Close poem for. :)

What I read was more like what I could hear. A lament written with the words of all that is wholly comprehended in basic nature and truth adding up to making your spirit lovely and full of pretty colors as it lulls me. This set a very enchanting tone... as if love could be touched... almost.

Wow, Frankie... that is a beautiful way of putting this... :)

I do like Lyrical poetry a lot... and I tend to have an ear for rhythms. and meter. It is meant as a kind of plea from my heart and also a sign of a growing affirmation of love and more .... I like the way you see this, Frankie. Um... I think love can be touched .... yes.... :)

Finding a romantic logic like your is so rare. You not only relate us to your thoughts and emotions, you even managed to make me feel as though I agree with them. I am surprised. I normally would not read poetry like this, yet your chi and it's power is undeniable.

Your writing is wonderful. As a woman, you are furrowing rare but interesting new fields in your poetry. I admire your free spirit and wish you love and happiness.

Hi Seeska, or is it Seska? I am not sure.

Um, honestly I don't know what "romantic logic" means here. If you mean my being able to get my thoughts across to readers through poetry and words, then perhaps that is it...

My poetry is not restricted to just a particular audience, Seska. I just try to write for everyone and for the one person that the poem is written about. How the two manage to reconcile what possible (if any) differences... I know not how that works or happens. I just trust to fate and to the wisdom of my readers, in the hope they understand where I am coming from...

Gosh, than you for such an interesting comment. :)

Thank you for the nice thoughts and comments. I never would have thought to look at my poetry with the perspective you have offered here to me. This is very interesting. Some things to ponder, I think.

Best wishes to you as well. Have a sweet day. :)
