Valentine's day - the day of love

Do we need Valentine's day to celebrate love? Doesn't love need to be celebrated everyday. Love is the best gift that you can ever give anyone or receive from a person. Love is the gift that can change the world. Love is when you think of the other and not of yourself, when you put the other's needs above that of yours.

Love is a spiritual connect that binds souls together when two become one, not just in body but in mind and spirit. Love is Kind, love is patient, love does not insist on its own way - says the Bible. Perhaps only that qualifies to be called love. Love with all your heart, don't hold back. A life lived without love is a life half lived.

This is a poem of love... to my valentine, my husband, my soul mate and friend. It was written on our 19th wedding anniversary ... which falls on Vlaentine's day.

It has been two decades now

It has been two decades now,

Since I did meet my soul mate,

Racing through that rush called love,

We were in a pretty disheveled state,

The youth of love does wear away,

Grows with time into a wide array,

Of wild times and quiet ones,

Of merry times and dull days,

It has been two decades now.

Our love has grown stronger,

The minutes have grown longer,

Like beautiful days in the sun,

Happier times tantalizingly before us

As understanding grows

And the respect really shows,

Aged love, like wine,

Flows smoothly divine.

It is two decades now!

I remember that sweet valentine’s day,

When we professed our love,

To a solemn congregation,

And to God above,

My teacher met me at the driveway,

A twinkle in her eye

Wishing us love and laughter

Left saying, ‘Be sweethearts forever’

It has been two decades now!

That line has left a deep indent,

Like a sweet smelling scent,

Since that nuptial day wow,

Of commitment and love,

Two little pearls precious, are ours

Shining bright like twinkling stars,

A reminder of that February day’

When a covenant was made,

It is two decades now.

With grateful hearts and thankful lips

We wait for better times,

To love and share, give and care

And surround in warm embrace,

Every moment that life gifts us

With patience and with grace,

I long to see that familiar face

Until my days are done..

We have had our two decades and seasons in the sun!
