Value of Trust

Updated on October 03, 2013

Combined Spirits

When trust is given first
It is given freely
Without any remorse or curse
Nothing seems to really

Cause derision as beginning
The very first of loves innings
All is well with the world
Out with all your flags unfurled

But for some betimes
That first trust is broken
Leaving things behind
A negative and painful token

That brings forth for future loves
The burden and aweful truth
Their trust sits in doubting gloves
A doubt that needs removed

From the mind of he who's given
The love from she who cares
Deeply for him and is driven
To prove more trust than theirs

For they have hurt him deeply
And as her love does grow
She knows within herself really
To prove her trust and show

How much she feels within her heart
How much each day she yearns
That somehow she will gain his trust
And sooth his pain that burns

But she feels deep down in her heart
That she may never be
Trusted as the first loves art
That was lost forever be

It is equally difficult to give trust should one have lost the trust of another. Thank You Gypsy for your comment.

Just awesome. It is so hard to give trust in love because you don't know if you'll get it in return.

Very concise verse, each line holds its own to build wonderful stanzas that lead to a great finale. Thank you. Jamie

It's true that it becomes more difficult to trust the more you're let down. You've treated a common theme of life with a new perspective; well portrayed and well expressed. Ann

Glad to have provided it. What is life without multiple points of view. Thanks for the comment Martin.
