Villanelle
The villanelle can be a powerful form for expressing deep emotions. This is not an example of that.
In my addiction I am amused
No one entertains me more than me
Perhaps I’m a little too enthused
When deprived my gently teasing muse
And you appear in my fantasies
By my addiction I am amused
Days without you pass in ones and twos
With separation anxiety
Perhaps I’m a little too enthused
Stories in my head leave me confused
When your friends write better poetry
By my silly thoughts I am amused
Daydreaming of youthful rendezvous
While trying to age with dignity
Perhaps I’m a little bit confused
At night I survive by surfing boozed
Play music or write some poetry
In the end by my own self amused
My sweet, do you play Internet flooze
Publish sexy online poetry
Attracting men that are too enthused?
Waiting for your return I pay dues
‘Lone awaiting your return to me
Too bereft to laugh and be amused
When my ego can’t be further bruised
You reappear with fresh poetry
And by my addiction I’m amused
Ya think I’m just a bit too enthused?
