SUNSETS...

What is it about a Sunset that takes our Breath away...

Why is it so Magical, that we need to Photograph it,

Or Perserve it in our Minds when we don't have a Camera.

True, we don't see a Magnificent one every day...

And sometimes they are far and in between,

Maybe because Winter lasts so long...

And the Clouds are not ready to share the sky.

What is it about a Sunset?

No matter what our age, it always makes us Smile.

We look upon it's Beauty... and for a brief moment,

It takes all our troubles of that day away.

It gives us Hope of another Tomorrow...

Or it can be a reminder of the End of another

Wonderful Day.

What is it about a Sunset?

It is a Star, that Shines for us,

And bathes us in it's Rays of Sun,

Until another Day is done...

And other Sunset has begun.

I love sunsets, especially over water. There is something about them that is universally pleasing to the human eye. Thank you for the exceptional poem. I enjoyed this Hub.

When I retired I told a friend at work that what the end of my life as a second shift employee meant to me was that I would have the chance to view 260 sunsets a year that I would otherwise have missed. And I do my best every day to look to the west and appreciate my good fortune.

Sunsets are my favorite time of day.

Sunsets are beautiful ways to end a day. I love when you can see the sun and the moon at the same time in the same sky at sun set. Its almost as if the moon is saying "Get some rest, I'll take it from here." What a beautiful poem. Voted up and beautiful.

I was thinking these pics were taken from the cruise. Beautiful! My Grandmother always called this time of the evening "slippery" because the sun just seems to slip into the horizon so quickly and effortlessly. Fabulous read when you need a moment to relax and reflect. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Fossillady, Loverman takes most of the pictures that I use, and these photos really inspired me to write about a "Sunset".

They must be Breathtaking Fiddleman...These were taken on the Jersey Shore by my Man.

I agree with 50 caliber, I remember once a long time ago , I was 18 and sitting with a girl in a field watching the sun go down and she asked me "where does it go?" and being the profound kind of guy I thought I was I said , "It just goes over that ridgeline there , and the next one and the next one so that others like us can watch it too." And she looked at me and said ,"that was a beautiful thing you just said ", I was pretty proud of myself until she followed the sunset west to another young man......Ha. Beautiful poem.
