WHATS MT PRESENT

Yesterday I was three

Now today I’m four

Mom said my birthday present’s

Waiting for me at the store

She said we have to hurry

Cause it is getting late

My birthday party’s in a bit

This day has been SO great!

What is my birthday present?

I can’t wait to see!

“I hope that it’s a pony, Mom!”

But she just laughed at me

I figured there’s no pony

So what else can it be?

I ran out to the car real fast

As mom got the car key

If I knew where we were going

I bet that I would know

Come on Mom PLEASE hurry up!

Your driving is so slow!

Everything I do is fast

I play and jump and run

I’ll never be a “Pokey Joe”

Cause that would be no fun

So at last we got there

To the mall with all the stores

But which one had my present?

There were so many doors!

Then I took off a running

And Mommy yelled “Slow Down!”

“You can’t go running off like that.”

She told me with a frown

This place is HUGE and I can’t tell

One store from the other

So for awhile I’ll slow it down

And stay right by my mother

And then my mommy pointed

Way up in the air

“That is where were going”

The upperlator took us there!

Up we road upon the stairs

So many stores to choose!

Mom said “SURPRISE!” We’re here

To buy you some new shoes!

“Shoes???” I said. How can that be?

I looked up at my mother

“These are special shoes” she said

“Like the ones we bought your brother”

Oh my goodness! Oh that’s GREAT!

This is better than a toy!

If these are like my brothers shoes

I’ll be the FASTEST boy!

There’s red and green and blue shoes

But I can pick just one

Color really doesn’t matter much

As long as I can run!

Do I choose green? Or maybe blue?

I like the red the best

And when I put those red shoes on

They had past the test!

My feet they took off running

Up and down each aisle

I zipped here and I zipped there

I think I ran a mile!

I ran I jumped and twirled around

First one foot than the other

“These are the BEST shoes in the world!”

I called to my mother

With brand new shoes I jump

I run and even hop

My mommy tried to catch me

Some man yelled “Make him STOP!”

Shoes are my birthday present

And I’m happy as can be

I’m faster now than yesterday

Cause I was only three!
