When a writer writes~

They tell their secrets~

Even sometimes~

Cloak-and-dagger is the scene.

Sometimes it is fancy~

Or frolicky and free~

Often thought out long~

And re-read by he.

When a writer writes~

They show their hearts~

Something normally a hush~

Is opened to the reader~

Or for years hidden in a trust.

Sometimes it is fact~

Or made up non-existent words~

Many can be spieled off random~

Yet still be art as it turns.

When a writer writes~

They tell about themselves~

When usually it is deep underground~

For no one to delve.

Sometimes it is made up~

Or precise to a tee~

Yet still there is some of them~

Left for you the reader to see.

When a writer writes~

They bare their souls~

Naked to the readers eye~

And top secrets are disclosed~

This they might deny.

Sometimes it is from the past~

Or sometimes it never be~

No matter what the writer writes~

It should be treasured speech.

It is true that emotions usually bubble forth when a writer puts pen to page. Even when there is no fact just imagination running through the fantasy world, we shape it in our own understanding.

Thanks for a great read Lisa, I enjoyed it very much. HB

There is a saying, if you truly want to be succesful at writing, write from the heart, and write about what you know. I saw the same message here, but with far more elegance. Thank you for writing this.

Lisa, I love this poem. So true! I seldom read my previous writings, because it is so often only rubbish. Even too much happiness boils out of me and manifest in some kind of writing, as if my soul, or whatever, is not big enough to accommodate any excessiveness. I’ve voted this one up in all ways.

Yes you are absolutely correct. When a Writer Writes..he/she discloses much from their hearts and soul. They leave a little window open, enough so to let escape the subtle yet mystery that lies within their scribe being laid down to rest.

I am a writer who writes from my heart and soul, I lay bare the scars I've received from my youth into my adult years. The dark Abyss I've struggled to climb from, the roads and turns in them I had to take. A struggle against time to leave a legacy of words to my children from a Daddy they resented so they could have a clearer and better understanding of who I really was.

So Lisa naked the Saddlerider be, exposing himself for the world to see, affecting many with words sometimes lost at sea and then flowing back like my message in a bottle for all who dares open it and read.

This is a beautiful piece you scribed here, I felt the rhythm and the expression from your heart. Yes us Writers write for so many reasons. Brilliant poem and loved the pictures as well....hugs
