Christianity Court

Updated on April 17, 2016

Is there enough evidence to convict?

If the law were to arrest you for being Christian, would an investigation gather enough evidence to convict you, or set you free? The qualities that would help them throw the book at you are: love, self control, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, virtue, knowledge, endurance, piety, and brotherly love. These qualities are the fruits of the spirit. When you are abiding in Christ’s love: loving God with all of your heart and your neighbor as yourself, reading his word, and living your life in such a way that your life produces fruit, it would be difficult to convince a jury or a judge that you were not Christian.

The World is Watching

There have been “Christian” people in my life who have made me feel sorry and ashamed for not only what they are representing to the world, but for also what they are showing Christ. He died, after all, on a cross for us. He took on the sins of the world. It is bad enough that people are still spitting on his face today, as they did at the time of the crucifixion. I see an interesting paradox, just like the first time, his people are still turning their backs on him. The world is full of weekend Christians, and I dare say to them, why bother? It is after all, for show. Is it really that important that everyone at the church and in the community get to see you punch your card? Do your duty, show up, and then live the rest of the week anyway you like. What do you think that behavior represents to the world that is watching you? Who do you think your fooling?

Hypocrisy

There are many motives to this behavior, but it basically comes down to hypocrisy. People do not trust liars, and if you are going to say you are a believer act like it, otherwise it makes it twice as difficult when a true believer comes after you to clean up the mess you made with the people that Christ loves, by the way he loves you to. Just in-case you were wondering fruit that isn’t genuinely growing from the vine rots and eventually falls off of you. Posers can only fake it for so long. Faulty fruit smells like: holding grudges, judging others, hating others, wanting to cause harm, withholding forgiveness, gossiping, ridiculing, ignoring others, withholding mercy, throwing stones, and many more.

Living a Life of Purpose

Do you live your life on purpose, filled with intentionality? Seek the moment to be kind and loving? If you are unsure whether he is real, look back on your life for the spiritual markers. He has been in your life all long, and if you examine your life you will see where his hand has been guiding you, rescuing you, and convicting you. Will others stand with me? If you are ever locked up for being a Christian, I hope they have enough evidence to convict. My prayer is that your life is a testament of your beliefs.
