Wattpad - The Best Place To Read And Write Stories, Books, Novels Online

Updated on August 23, 2015

What is Wattpad?

Wattpad is a place to discover and share stories: a social platform that connects people through words. With thousands of stories added each day, there’s always something you want to read. Want a story about a daughter smuggling her zombie mother to safety? They have that. Want a story about a time-traveling frog with super powers? They don’t have that, and they’d be happy to see you write it.

Wattpad has 100, 000, 000 (100 million) stories to read and 40 million wattpadders to engage with!

Wattpad is a site where you can read, write, comment different stories. You can sign up for free, search in lots of categories and add the stories you like to your library. That way the site saves your progress and you can come back anytime to continue reading! Whether you’re online or off, use the devices you already own to carry an entire library wherever you go.

AND you get notified every time your favorite writer shares a new chapter.

What is your favorite genre?

Why Wattpad?

Because it`s the best! It`s easy, free and BIG!

Now, don`t get the wrong impression. I`ve been to other sites where you can read and write, trust me. But I like this one, because you don`t have to remember what was the last thing you read, which chapter or which page - that is automatic.

If you like the chapter, you can vote for it and that way you help the author get more confident, get noticed and maybe win a prize. And if you are writing a story of your own and you want more people to read it, then you can comment on the section below (or a certain paragraph, if you`d like). That way other the readers and the author notice you and discover your stories!

How to search and find what you want?

Wattpad has its own search engine. You can search stories and people. You can search by name, or you can search by category. It has more than 20! The common types like romance, humor, adventure, and others not so well known like spiritual, vampire, werewolf (yeah, vampire and werewolf are different categories than fantasy). Tags are fine, too! If you`re not sure whether you want a romance or comedy, you can hashtag! #hashtaging #evilgodmother #magic #mate #bromance And many more!

What to start with?

Well, here are some stories to get started with:

I read this story when I first got wattpad and let me say it was OUTSTANDING it makes you want to connect with every single character and it definitely deserves the #1 spot!

The After series books all have over 200 million reads EACH and the most votes/reads I have ever seen. I was never in to fan fictions, trust me, but oh my gosh. This book. Is. AMAZING. It is so addicting and such a rollocoaster ride! These books changed me!

Avalon is a wild, humorous, enjoyable read that deals with so many different aspects of life, like love, fears, bullying and family. The bond Avalon has with her horse Amber is so well described and it makes it seem so real. I'm loving it!!

  • Pride and Prejudice (1813) By JaneAusten (Classics)

Yup! The original one.

See, there are soooooo many books that you can read!!!

Writing on Wattpad

If you`re a writer, then Wattpad is great for you. Whether you have never written in your life before or you have tried and tried to be recognized for your talent, Wattpad is the place for you. This place has so many members, with at least ten times as many interests. There is no way that you won`t be noticed. If it`s not soon, then it will be late, but it will happen.

When you have your own piece uploaded you can update new chapters whenever you want. If something is wrong you can go back and edit it. Personally I love that readers give feedback and that really helps you edit it. They even help you with the grammar, so don`t worry, just write!

Even More Fun!!!

On Wattpad you have more options. There are different clubs and occasional contests, and great awards.

The clubs are the place to search for help and support (not for technical stuff, of course). If you need help improving you writing skills - go to the club. If you want to know what is going on on Wattpad - go to the club. If you are searching for help with your multimedia, pictures, cover - go to the club. It`s that easy. All you need to do is say you need help. The community of Wattpad will provide you anything you need.

You are wondering which writing contest to enter? Wattpad contests are the answer! There are sooo many, you won`t have time for all. And they won`t stop appearing! Every month you`ve got a new contest to participate in. Isn`t that cool? And each and every one of them is with really interesting topics. For example, "CHIPOTLE - Submit a short, original (and amazing) essay about a time when food created a memory and you could win big"; The Scholarship contest - if you win you get $1500! There, of course, are some standard topics like Romance Contest, FanFic Contest, SciFi Contest and many more.

The most popular contest of all Wattpad contest is The Wattys. It has so many writers entering each year, it`s mind blowing! And the thing with this contest (and all contests, by my opinion) is that if you don`t win any prize, then you get many readings and votes, that the satisfaction is big enough to tone down any bad feelings.

Where can I get Wattpad?

As I mentioned earlier, Wattpad is free. You can find it on your computer by a link and/or you can find it in the Play Store or Apple Store on your device. It`s easy and fast. If you prefer you can sign up on your phone, too, not only on your computer.

If You Must Know

In 2013, people spent 41 billion minutes on Wattpad.

Wattpad is available in 51 languages worldwide.

In 2013 4,463,071 original YouTube trailers and covers were created

If every story on Wattpad was printed out on paper, the platform would outweigh 1,000 elephants!

Creation is so key that the very walls at Wattpad HQ are covered with writable whiteboard paint, and these walls are usually filled with codes, ideas and scribbled smiley faces.
