We Perpetually
While you awaken and lament life
the hours you toil
We lay in bed hoping to be free from perpetual illness
The woes of being we
As you make your way to work wishing for just one more Day in bed
We who are perpetually sick
Wish nausea, aches, pain and lethargy would really
Reside only in our heads
You sit by your window and daydream of the Day
When you too can stay in bed and perhaps have a lazy Day
We who are perpetually sick wish for just one moment
We could climb out of bed
And make our way, on steady limbs
Pain-free, illness free, to just the bathroom door
Yes, we may at times give the appearance of great health
But our will and bodies are constantly warring
Medication controlled illness allows for just
So much and no more
Then we are back to being perpetually we
We hear the comments and at times they rankle
You could go if you really wanted.
It's mind over matter
Just get out of bed and you will see
You will feel much better if you just
The perpetually sick wish you see for just one Day
What it means to be perpetually we.
Residing in the World of the you who are healthy.
