Weaved From the Waves
Dream Weaver
Dream Weaver
When people ask me who I am like
I throw my hands up in the air
Because few understand
I am a dream weaver…
Weaved from the waves of women washed upon golden shores
Where night meets day
Where endless thoughts
Get between my toes
Stick to the bottom of my feet
Fall from my damp towel
When I am all alone on some dark street
I am a dream weaver
My mother’s smile
My dad’s steel blue eyes
Eyes that look at me and remember his mother
I am a dream weaver
Forested believer
Weaved from many trees
Branching over meadows and mountains
Marble and moss
I am a dream weaver
When I am lost
When I find my holiest of ghosts
Sneaking upon me
Wearing me down
Making me listen when no one is around
Except for the souls who flow through my leaves
Washing upon me like swamp monsters pretending to be seaweed
I am a dream weaver
I know better
I know the difference
From sun up to dusk
Day dreams to night screams
Night time eternities I can hear
But dare not speak
I am a dream weaver
My hands do not rest
Until the tips of my fingers eventually go to sleep
Forever awake
Forever aware
Of nothing and everywhere
And all that is not there
A burden
A buried chest buried deeply in the burnt sand
Glittering for all to see
And not see
Because after all
I am a dream weaver
Washed inland from the sea
Of dreams, hopes and deepest of despairs
A shard, a shell
A shark’s tooth
Piece of coral
Quartz
Starfish
Sand dollar
Castle falling down
Bucket
Shovel
Paler shade of pale
Yeah! I am a dream weaver
Like all the dream weavers who
Dreamed before me
I weave and weave…dream and dream
Determined that if I weave enough dreams
One day
One dream
Will become true for me
Are you a dream weaver?
