Welcome Guests - A Poem
My winter days are brightened when you come into view,
I love to watch your antics, you cheer me up it´s true.
Darling little Jenny Wren, hopping here and there,
chattering so loudly when a nice fat grub you snare.
Cheeky mister Blue Tit, clothed in Blue and Yellow,
stealing from my pint of milk, crafty little fellow.
Handsome clever Magpie pays a visit too,
splendid in his livery of black and white and blue.
Noisy squabbling Starlings not my favourite guests,
but you find the winter hard so I´ll feed you with the rest.
Cautious timid Blackbirds carefully approach,
clucking gently to themselves their courage to evoke.
And last of all the Robin who sits within the tree,
outside my kitchen window and carefully studies me.
