My winter days are brightened when you come into view,

I love to watch your antics, you cheer me up it´s true.

Darling little Jenny Wren, hopping here and there,

chattering so loudly when a nice fat grub you snare.

      Hi KJ.

Bubblews folded ages ago, but I had stopped posting on there well before that after the you know what hit the fan and they wiped out my earnings then failed to reply to questions.

      Hi Galaxy59.

I don´t know where that is, but I´m already dreading British winters when I sell up and come back, and already wondering how to spend winters in Spain when I do LOL :-)

We stay in Villa Martin near La Zenia beach. It's so warm and sunny right through the winter. I just love it. I suffer from RA and the weather is really good for me.

      Hi galaxy59.

Thank you for reading and your comment, it´s been years since anyone looked at this hub I think. Interesting that you spend most of the winter in Spain, much better than northern Europe winters for sure, despite the gales. Where do you visit ?

Beautiful poem and such amazing pictures too. I really love watching the birds in the garden here in the UK and in Spain where we spend much of the winter now.

I'm so sorry about the fire! If your orioles are like mine, they love to build their pouch-like nests hanging precariously at the end of a branch that is very high up in the tallest tree they can find! I hope you hear your birds soon, and that they find a suitable nesting spot nearby.

So nice to hear from you ;) Pearl

      Hi Pearl.

Many thanks for your lovely comments. I love it when the birds come back in the spring too . Actually, reading your comment has just reminded me that I haven´t yet heard any Golden oriols singing yet and they always nest around where I live, that´s a bit disturbing. Maybe they haven´t yet arrived or maybe they have chosen a different spot this year as we had a huge wildfire last June and a lot of trees were destroyed. I shall have to listen out for them and keep my fingers crossed that they do return.

I loved your poem; and I loved meeting your birds! It's always fun seeing the birds from different parts of the world. Yours are so very colorful! Both the poetry and the pictures brought a smile to my face.

I'm always pleased in the spring to greet my birds that have flown all the way back 'home' from the tropics to spend their summer with me. My orioles are serenading me along with the red-breasted grosbeaks and the cardinals.

Voted this Up, Useful, Interesting, Beautiful & Awesome. Also pinned!

      ;) Pearl

Hi Valley. Thank you so much for your kind words. I was in too minds about publishing this because I felt it may be viewed as too simple or childish, but I´m pleased I did when I get praise from someone who´s whole world on HP is Poetry. Yes I see and hear you are getting another harsh and long Winter in the valley, I was looking at the snow falling when I spoke to my daughter in Preston a few days ago. Thanks again for dropping by , really appreciate it :)

Hi Nell. Wow indeed, it must be so fantastic to see such a display, maybe even a little scary. The day a sparrowhawk zoomed into my garden and caught a bird feeding from my bird table was awesome and just like something from a David Attenborough show, of course I did feel very sorry for it´s little victim, but Sparrowhawks have to eat too, that´s nature in the raw. Hope you are OK Nell and the cold weather isn´t getting you down too much or giving you more bugs.

This was so beautiful anne, for a second I thought that you had returned to England, but then I saw your comment. We have Red Kites living in the tree near me, and you should see them when the come down for the chicken carcass! about 30 of them swooping down about 5 feet away! awesome display! have a great weekend, nell

Hello Maj. Great to hear from you love and thank you for liking this little ditty. I actually wrote it years ago whilst still in Lancashire, but I do get similar visitors here, no Starlings or Jackdaws though even though they are about. I once had a Sparrow hawk zoom on to my bird table in the UK, here I have had Eagles flying only a few meters over my head, that really is something I can tell you. Hope all´s OK with you too :)

Hello Anne - this is just lovely and a tribute to your gorgeous bird friends. Have to admit I adore birds - have many favourites here who come and go with the seasons. Amazing where they appear from when the bird seed appears - and a big 'pecking' order takes place. Hope all well, cheers -

Hi PS. Lovely to hear from you. My winter has been a good one on the whole too, apart from over a month of almost gale force winds, but I am putting food out for the birds as there was so much damage done in this area by last years wildfire I think there must be a shortage of natural food for at least some of them.

I enjoyed this so much. As a bird watcher and one who adores them, reading this was like being there with you. I have been privy to many lovelies this winter although our winter has been so mild it can hardly be called winter.

Thank you for sharing this with us...any time I can view these little feathered critters and read of them is a good day.

Sending you Angels this afternoon. :) ps

Hi Bob, it is lovely to watch them isn´t it. Here in Spain we still get a lot of the same birds but the colouration is just slightly different for some reason in a lot of them. Many birds are now back after the winter and even here the weather can be harsh so I feed them daily, it´s a treat for us all . Really great job you did on the save our foxes hub, I see it´s stirred up a lot of well deserved emotion, great job:)

Many thanks for reading and taking time to comment to Lynda, KJ and AMFredenburg too, sorry I have had to stitch you onto the bottom of my reply to Bob, but my reply box dissapeared, anyhow, I´m really pleased you liked this little verse, can´t take credit for the stunning photo´s though. Thank you AM for tweeting this...very apt :)

Hi Graham , how lovely to hear from you my friend. I am still in Spain and loving it because apart from a month of sometimes gale force winds it´s been a fantastic winter so far with many warm sunny days. I wrote this little poem years and years ago when I was still living in Lancashire and enjoying the many varieties of birds that came to feed on the bird table outside my conservatory, it gave me so much pleasure then, and still does to this day when the Spanish birds do the same. Great to hear from you and I hope you are not suffering too much in the freezing cold.
