What Happened To Wednesday's Ride? 01-12-10

Seven Pounds Of Clothing

We ride it every Wednesday, it’s really nothing formal.

Our leader said our weather would be a little closer to normal.

I’ve been sick a week and I’ve been really weak.

Chills, aches, and a throat so sore that I could hardly speak.

The last few days I felt so bad I even shunned the outside.

Yesterday I was totally unable to ride my bike inside.

Off the wall, I received a call from my good riding friend, TJ.

He asked if was riding Wednesday. I had to say no way!

I was having an awful day; my lungs seemed full of broken glass.

I wondered if God would take me, I was hoping that I would pass.

But yesterday my illness eased a bit. I may be over the hump.

Perhaps tomorrow I’ll try to ride and reduce my growing rump.

I drank a lot of fluids, took a hot bath, and I put myself to bed.

I even took a painkiller to ease my aching head.

I slept very well. The morning came. I eased into the day.

I was too slow with my daily routines and I must be on my way.

I collected my clothes and rushed to dress for a day of frigid cold.

I hoped fresh air would help. Perhaps I was a bit too bold.

Our little ride starts at the church where most people always drove.

But I always warm up my ride by riding out to Union Grove.

I had to get there fast so I took the quickest route.

My road was busy; my head was dizzy, as I blew mucus from my snout.

As I rode I had to wonder why I didn’t get a call from Cyrus.

I was also puzzled at how I got sick. It must be a computer virus.

I’ve seen no one. I’ve touched no one. Yet, I was sick as I could be.

If I’ve not been around anyone, just how can this happen to me?

Never-the-less, I’ll do my best, and try to join the rest.

So what if I’m ill with a terrible chill and a pain that fills my chest.

I’ll use all my mind, will-power, and spirit and refuse to entertain,

Thoughts of weakness or acknowledge my illness and pain.

It’s only mind over matter, I’ll say to the very end.

Our meeting place is just ahead and then I’ll draft a friend.

No matter the trials that come my way, I’ll try to persevere.

At last I arrive at our rendezvous and see that nobody’s here.

So what, I’ll go on and ride alone. Who cares if the weather-man lied?

It doesn’t bother me at all that no-one decided to ride.

What the heck, I’ll continue my trek, and follow my plan to the letter.

I finally arrive back at home and yes I do feel better.

I know now what happened to Wednesday’s ride and with a little sorrow.

For today is only Tuesday and Wednesday is tomorrow.

Wednsday- The Real Wednesday

This is only a mile from my house in "Laguna Beach".

Union Groove

This is more like it. Some cyclists showed!

George and Bruce.Bruce is in the barcalounger!

TJ, Neal, and Jose.

I just love silos.

They wrote a song about Jose. "Jose can you see, by the dawn's early light..."

There's a silo.

Bruce seems like a nice guy but he likes to beat people up. Watch him go!

A couple stragglers are back just a bit.

Let's all get in a row here.

George

John Deere

Smiling George

A bunch of men in funny clothes!

A house!

Nuts!

I may be just a squirrel but you're a lot closer to "NUTS" than I am!
