What Have we all to Become ( a lyrical poem of reconciliation)

Updated on July 26, 2016

A few hundred years ago, all our forefathers did bestow, to help form this nation,

The thoughts and dreams, of great hope it gleems, commands a standing ovation.

Our futures preserved by the union we deserved, forged by their righteous hands,

The constitution, its bill of rights, set our courses, true, as this, each understands.

Refrain:

May our god, save and keep us, his help we shall need, for evermore,

Helps us to stand all across this wide land, his guidance to go before.

This country to have suffered the pangs of struggle, for over two hundred years,

We have weathered storms, as a new country forms, have cast away our fears.

Have risen in this world, as our flag is unfurled, amid marching bands and cheers.

We have built strong lives, our society thrives, with help of our people, our peers.

Refrain:

May our god save and keep us, his help we shall need for ever more,

Helps us to stand, all across this wide land, his guidance to go before.

Amid cheers and bands we celebrate across this land...
Amid cheers and bands we celebrate across this land...

We have lived through a war was once set, to divide this nation, each state,

Through years of fighting, we gained back our union, as this was our fate.

Great world wars, One and Two, both to test our strength and our resolve,

Through much sacrifice, loss of life, our challenges, demands, were solved.

Refrain:

May our god save and keep us, his help we shall need for evermore,

Helps us to stand, all across this wide land, his guidance to go before.

Challenges demands, were resolved
Challenges demands, were resolved

After two wars in Asia, and across the seas, we still hold fast, are well united,

Many new challenges, some so great, approaches have been short sighted,

We still have hungry to feed, to clothe, our country still in need of more work,

Wages of many, not enough to cope, education's needs, we should not shirk.

Refrain:

May our god save and keep us, his help we shall need for evermore,

Helps us to stand, all across this wide land, his guidance to go before.

education's needs, we must not shirk...
education's needs, we must not shirk...

What have we all to become... our nation still great, very grand, to be,

With leadership strong, we may all still belong, in this land of the free.

May our god save and to keep us, his help we shall need for evermore,

Helps us to stand, all across this wide land, his guidance to go before.

Refrain:

May our god save and keep us, his help we shall need for evermore,

Helps us stand, all across this wide land, his guidance to go before.

We all still need the guidance of our wisest lord god.
We all still need the guidance of our wisest lord god.

In this day of madness, we certainly do need patriotism in any form that we can get it.

Fabulous! Oh, how we wish, how we desire to live in peace and love with our friends and enemies near and far and enjoy prosperity granted by the Creator. An we will. It is coming when the "Good Shepherd" brings them all together and "there will be one flock, one shepherd."

May Yahweh bless and keep you.

Amen to your beautiful and patriotic poem. My prayer is that we will join hands and go forward. Stop this hate and start loving our neighbors here and abroad.
