~What I Was Sent to Do~
Sometimes, I know if I could choose, I’d simply turn away
Sometimes, if it were up to me, I’d have too much to say.
Sometimes I think “life’s journey” has taken way too long
Sometimes I’m sure what’s right will never quite outweigh what’s wrong.
It is then God sends a rainbow or a tiny bird to sing
And reminds me I already have the best of everything.
I have the eyes to see my world, and ears to hear it’s voice.
If I just slow down long enough…and that? Well, that’s my choice.
The trials aren’t to hurt me, they’re for others who don’t know.
And so God made me a vessel – so they can see how things should go.
He set me deep in mighty waters, and told me “forge straight through”
And I know somebody’s watching to see just how I do.
He isn’t going to fail them…so I know I’ll be okay
Though He’ll let me get discouraged at the end of a long day.
I may not perform with grace
Or know “success”, but when I’m through
I will know I have accomplished
What I was sent to do.
