What Is Love?

Updated on October 18, 2011

What Is Love?

What is love but tears and pain

Hours of waiting in the rain

Dreams that fail to come to pass

Wilted smiles and shards of glass

What is love but hopes denied

Lonely sunsets swallowed pride

Praying to a falling star

Never knowing where you are

These days are warm but I am cold

And love is all I have to hold

As deep red sunsets chaperone

These empty nights I cry alone

Love is just another day

I spend without your special way

Another night I'm sure to find

That love's an aching in the mind

Nice poem. Nice to see that some people still know how to make things rhyme.

Thanks... I love rhyming poetry, see it as a lost art these days.

To Ahky: Such a beautiful and stirring poem. You are a poet of the old school. You have such a beautiful way with words. You are majestic in your delivery.
