What you want to be

Updated on September 12, 2010

My career as a Private Investigator has led me to places and exposed me to so many adventures in life. A good number of people feels that this field is a bit risky but if it is, then what do you consider being a Police Officer, a Soldier, Doctor and Teacher to be?

To me there is nothing like doing what you love doing and doing it to perfection,

"The only risk in whatever profession you can imagine is life itself."

Do what you know best and do not allow anyone talk you down , many will under estimate you, many will look down on you but it is only you who knows your worth and your goals.

We were hired to investigate the house break/burglary in one of the apartments in the building and that led to this discovery, there was a dead smell from the nearby room and neighbors were tired of the occupant who has no work and is always on the street begging.

“He is a good for nothing slot” said one of the neighbors
No shouted another,” he is just a lazy fool”

With orders from the court, the police were called in to clean up the room, the door was broken after two hours of knocking without answer, we saw this old tattered man and must be in his late 40(s), the smell in the room was unbearable but it needed to be cleaned.

This man is a beggar in the street and has no immediate family around, while cleaning up his room, the police discovered so many tied up bags of money, these money were carefully counted and to everyone’s amazement, a total of SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS was recorded.

The first neighbor that called this man a slot owes six months’ rent.

Isn’t this amazing that the beggar whose room has a dead smell, that tattered slot is richer than all of us in that room?

This man has been begging for the past 30years and each time he come home, he will tie whatever money he got in a bag and drop in the room.

Sir, you are rich so why do you still beg? One of the Police officers asked him
It is what i love doing and does that give you guys the authority to invade my privacy? He responded.

His room was neatly arranged and the money given to him but to my surprise.

The next morning while driving to work, i spotted the same man under the bridge, his usual begging spot.

Be what you want to be.

People will always underestimate you

But be yourself and what you want to be

You might not swim the ocean

You might not even walk with style

It is not important if you do not have the zeal

Just be what you want to be

You might not know how to kick a ball

Your cloths might be full of patches

Just be what you want to be

They might consider you disable

But you know that you are cool

Juts be yourself and what you want to be

It is left for you to trade your charm if you want

You might not know about the internet

Your English might be the worst

You are right. We should be what we want to be and not get trapped in situations that make us unhappy. Great story and I liked the music.

Thank you for sharing this story. We tend to judge too quickly, don't we? Most people don't want to put in the effort to discover and become what they want to be and so they miss out on the adventure!

I wish you all the best
