'What Is It About A Sunrise?'

Updated on May 2, 2010

What is it about a sunrise
that touches us deep inside?
Is it the start of a brand new day,
all fresh from a night of darkness,
the sun need no longer hide?

Is it the promise of a new start,
a chance to begin again?
Or is it just the beauty
that touches us deep within?

A sunrise brings back memories
of special mornings untold.
Of the sweetness of the morning dew,
a beautiful sight to behold.

The gentle light peeking over the horizon
and slowly clothing the landscape.
To see and relish these few moments
my breath it takes away.

The birds are softly chirping,
welcoming the wonder
of light so softly bursting
it is unlike any other.

My thoughts go back to
waking to the softness of the room
as morning arrives and
my eyes open to the stillness
all to soon.

Thoughts go through my head,
as I take in all the splendor,
of moments of such deepness,
that it touches me to the core.

And then in a minute the sun is up
an all to quickly the day has begun.
That moment of beauty, etched in my mind,
as I say Goo d Mornin'
and welcome the sun.

Tomorrow is another day,
another chance for us to sigh
and see the golden fingers of the light,
spreading like strings across
the sky.

A daily dose of beauty
for each of us to behold.
Given freely as a gift,
one we cannot hold,
but take a picture in our minds
to get us through the day
a moment we can go back to
when our minds just need to stray.

Thank you singlmomat52 for these wonderful thoughts spliced neatly into some fine words of poetry. It is great that you so eloquently suggest that fresh new hopes and possibilities are heralded by the marvellous beauty of the sunrise of each new day – just as you recognize and describe so appreciatively. I read this as an invitation for everyone to behold and embrace this hope, and I thank you and our Creator for just that. Good Tidings and Best Wishes.
