Political Poetry: What's a Mother Supposed to Do?
Here’s a proposition for you
What’s a mother in this situation to do?
Her little boy is murdered,
On an operating table
The doctor never tried to save him
Even though he was able.
He denied him a chance
A chance at life,
All because this doctor
Deemed himself a God
With a knife.
Making life and death decisions
With the cavalier of a madman.
Looking upon the mother with disdain
Saying he did all he can
The mother seeks out justice,
But she is granted none.
The DA said insufficient evidence,
So she pulled out her gun.
Three shots
And the doctor is dead,
Now the DA wants to prosecute
He’s after her head.
What kind of world do we live in
Where a mother is denied her son
Because a doctor commits a crime
And the DA thinks his job is done.
Tell me please
What is a mother supposed to do
When men seek to defend their careers
Instead of doing
What they were supposed to do.
