When Life is Good (a poem)

Updated on August 19, 2013
Source

A pleasant dream

I might have had

was something so grand

to make up for much

gone wrong.

When the good news came

I felt so glad

to see that time

hard work

steadfast saw me through.

Walking on a cloud

joyous air abound

a smile spread wide

and ever so free.

Inside I might bust

from the excitement of success

a trill of victory

that so few have known.

As I lie awake,

a thought comes in

of wicked way

and doubtful heart.

Fear seizes hold

a pit inside my stomach

stomps my happy

crushed to parts unknown.

Something good

follows with a cloud

but life is not always so.

Ups and downs

of no rhyme or reason

are part of the flow.

Today I can be happy

memories of tomorrow

saved for another day

darkness turned to light.

It's often so true that we expect something bad to happen after something good. But it's no always the case, and we really should enjoy the happy days while we can. Great poem!

      Beautiful .

People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

Such a beautiful way of stating this--the movement toward the light can be fraught with doubt--really lovely!

This is such a truthful statement. Choose to see the light beyond the clouds. Make every day count! Lovely poem.
