When Love Leaves

Updated on May 9, 2013

Shoes In The Way

Gone are the days when I held her hand,

And she held mine.

Gone are the laughter and smiles,

We left behind.

.

No more tugging.

On my scruffy beard.

No more telling me,

“Dad you’re weird”.

.

I wish for yesterday,

When we played together.

I assumed that all storms.

Could be weathered.

.

I could never contemplate,

A life without you.

But the sands of my hour glass,

Have sifted through.

.

Your humor, your smell,

Your touch, your grin

They’re gone with the memory,

Of how we had been.

.

You ran through my heart,

Without any cares.

Your shoes were left,

At the bottom of the stairs.

.

I picked them up,

To put them away.

I put them back,

As I feared the day,

.

You might outgrow,

The need to play.

And I may not see,

Those shoes in the way.

.

.

~Micky Dee~

.

Love Is Leaving

Its 3:30 AM,

I’ve been up all day.

I tried to go to sleep,

But my head got in the way.

.

I thought I’d write a poem.

Just to have something to do.

But all my thoughts,

Kept running back to you.

.

I wondered if you were sleeping,

Or if you were awake.

What does this wondering mean,

For heavens sake?

.

What’s this I’m feeling?

Could it be a seismic shaking?

Or is it just a countdown,

For when my heart starts breaking.

.

Freedom’s just another word,

For nothing left to lose.

Is that why I feel an awful tremor,

Right down to my very shoes?

.

Please come close and hold me now,

And kiss my trembling lips.

I feel this chill and cold vibrations,

Right through my finger tips.

.

What is this coldness,

That makes teeth chatter?

What are these oscillations,

That make my thoughts scatter?

.

My very being,

Echoes the sadness of grieving.

It’s the feeling I feel,

When I feel love is leaving.

.

.

~Micky Dee~

.

MY PHONE DOESN'T SAY I LOVE YOU ANYMORE!

My phone doesn't say,

"I love you" anymore.

My heart is broken,

And cuts me to the core.

.

I long to see the Love,

That I adore,

With whom to endless heights,

We'd soar.

.

"O' God where is she?",

I implore.

He quotes Poe's raven,

"Nevermore".

.

I lie here, frozen on the floor,

Hoping, I should rise no more,

All because my phone,

Doesn’t say “I love you” anymore.

.

There are many "takes" on missing love. I go through them all but I really bog down in the "missing of love and how love can truly be". Unfortuantely, when one tastes true love - all is lost - ?

Micky,I can feel your pain!Do you have her back? I didn't get that feeling. But if you did, congrats to you!Hug her tightly!

Take it from me,do anything to get her back.Blame and pride be damned!

Those are lovely words but they come from such a lonely place.I have been there!

Pretty and sweet words you write. But the tone is quite sad. When love leaves, our hearts tend to melt. Hope you find peace. Great poem all the way. Voted awesome

I am reminded of the words, "Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all". Try and get the heart to buy that one! "The phone doesn't say I love you anymore" Funny how a single line strikes the heart. Sometimes, to up residence. Thanks for the discomfort. I will not take it for granted anymore.

Only soft hearts get heavy, with hurt, Micky. Sometimes I think there are fewer soft hearts out there than we think. I am surer of it every day really. It's so hard to love so deeply and have not one once of control, I use to think dying of a broken heart was just words in a song and now I know it is possible as I am sure you know too. Being here helps and at least we can smile now and then. When I first saw you I thought you were a young kid on a bike just riding through, care free and happy, zipping along. That thought makes me smile now, I hope it can you too. We know there are no promises, kind words help but can never cure. Smiles are the best medicine we could ask for. May you have many.

I think that right now- in my life -I think I'm close to being "where" I'm supposed to be. I think I'm close- spiritually, mentally, and physically. This is just as expected from past "injuries" in all categories.

I'm here and I'm waiting on the "Great Conductor" to hand out the sheet music. Then we'll know what to play!

Life does get heavy .. the older I get the more heaviness .. at least it seems to me. But there are also breaks in the clouds when the sun pops through to gloriously soften the lines of care. I pray the sun breaks through and the little girl once again curls into her Daddy's arms.

      To Simply Love....Again!

      Love again,

      comes around

      like an old friend,

      gently tapping me

      on the shoulder,

      and directing my

      gaze towards you.

      Breath escapes me,

      and that overwhelming

      urge to know you more

      becomes my most

      passionate goal.

      All bittersweet thoughts

      of the love

      I 'd just lost,

      vanish like a bubble

      blown across the winds

      of another melancholy place.

      far from here,

      far from your gaze

      which now locks on me,

      in pale blue splendor.

Your face is a question mark

      of possibilities yet answered,

and that hint of a smile,

      which curls up

      like an invite

      wrapped in the red

      ribbon of your lips,

      bids me say hello.

So I will strive once more,

      to never say Goodbye,

      for there is little

      that is good

      about a goodbye

      when love comes again.
