When October Leaf Fall

Updated on September 9, 2011

When October leaf fall
Upon that hollow night
A glowing mingled light
On that castle stood three witch

Chanting…

“One dragon scale, four human brain,
Sixteen eyeballs and two children foot
Lion blood and crocodile skin
Let all these ingredient mixed and spin

Let the sky turn crimson on Hallow night
Let all the dead come alive
Knocked the living through a thorn wall
Into a dry ditch and drown them all”

The dark sky flashes with lightning
Thunder start to roar
Rain start falling
And thousand year old casket came flying

Skeletal came crawling with maggots and few flesh
Hanging part of the body lies some few ripped clothe
Odors of death replace fresh air
Beautiful world then turn to nightmare!

Hi Vinaya, thank you! What's the greatest festival of Nepal? For our Khmer Buddhist Community, in October its our Ancestor ceremony which we believe that the devil open its gate of hell for the dead to go search for the family. This is when they have freedom from punishment to reunite with their living once again. We the live one are suppose to go to the pagoda and offer food to the monk and the monk would bless the food for the dead to eat. Chanting start at 4am. Blessing and Dharma talk start evening around 5pm until 9pm.

What an amazing and dark poem this is. And yet how beautiful it is worded and crafted. You are a great poet, Chanroth. "Knocking the living through a thorn wall..." some amazing images in your work. You write so well.

      Just Tweeted this. :)
