When Shall It Be (an inspirational poem)
Tell me when a man shall so love his fellow man,
Care for all his sisters and his brothers,
Will he understand, there's a common band...
That all were born the same, of precious mothers?
Every living thing, so much joy to bring,
To be honored, revered, in all its colors,
That everything invented, no matter its incentive...
Not just to be reserved by scholars?
When will a single word to mean so much,
As thousands of the same, do so touch,
Why can't all see, the likeness there is to be,
Respecting of each message, those to decree?
Should our world fall around us, walls to tumble down...
May we overcome...then ours to rise,
Never, our spirits to break...give into heartache,
As we each reach for the bluest of skies?
Does the soul of a being...represent what we're seeing,
Or just another common hollow face,
Do we treat each one as equal, not having a dishonored sequel...
Then to fall, in our own disgrace?
May we reach the summit, in our ascension,
Put aside each pretension, as the honest truth,
Rid ourselves of distrust, habits of disgust,
Make amends, leave behind the uncouth?
Might a bridge destroyed, ever to be rebuilt,
As strength in efforts, all do so well imply.
Does the goodness of a man, across the world to span,,,
This, never his humanity to deny?
As every man, so should, strive for the common good,
Showing love, to care, and the best to share,
New challenges, for us to come, we may accomplish every one...
our success, in great relief, to declare.
