When We Make The Cut

Updated on December 3, 2014

At Least For Now

In sports it means we have lasted one more round

When a coach decides to pick his players

You still have a chance

In life it can mean a whole different thing

At work I cut myself on a sharp corner

At the wrong place at just the right angle

Ouch that smarts

I don't think it could have been avoided

So happy no stitches

This time it was my knee

A year ago it was my knuckle

For the most part I am pretty careful

Sometimes you just can't help it

Your rushing to get the job done

Not your choice

Lack of help and you are busy trying to do two things at once

In time this cut will heal and fade away

For some people the memory lasts forever

Those who made the team got to play

Those who didn't tried harder

Some people gave up and did something else

Always remembering the feeling of not being good enough

Depending how old they were could of left an impression

That affected what else they do in life

Rejection is a hard emotion to face

Everything from dating to getting hired for a new job

If we have learned to accept it as a learning experience

We can grow and become better

It's all how you look at each situation

With a positive attitude and the confidence to succeed

I think these good qualities can be applied to our future success

When we know we have a lot of different talents

Some noticed and some overlooked for reasons beyond our control

I think we all know we can't have it always our way

So if you are struggling and things don't work out

Take the lessons you have learned and apply them to something else

One day it will all pay off

Bigger and better than it would of been if you didn't have that obstacle long ago

No need for luck

Believe in yourself and keep trying

You create an amazing life

One struggle at a time

The reason you cut yourself is because you were not present or focused. Your mind was in the future..the point you get to after the rushing to get something done will occur. Unfortunately, this doesn't get things done any faster. You'll find if you actually slow down and focus on what you are doing in the present moment, that things will get done in the allotted time. Try it.

I realize the 'cut' in your article was partially a metaphor, but the idea of being present still applies. If you're regretting the past, or worrying about the future, you're not present. The only place you can be happy is the present. The past and the future are mental constructs or illusions that have no bearing on your present, unless you (your ego) allow them to.

Most people need to re-gain control of their minds, since the ego is controlling what you think and do in your absence (from the present moment). It can be done.

Just a little grammar note: It should be – "could [have].." not "could [of]..".

DDE It is very important that through the tough times we keep calm and level headed. Pressure and stress create unnecessary tension and problems. The lovely times are rewarding and beneficial. vocalcoach Rejection leaves that awful taste in my mouth. In life it is unavoidable. You have to deal with it and remember not to let it get to you. Spend your time focusing on your strengths not your weaknesses.Thank you for reading and sharing. It means so much to me. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. With Christmas only a month away. May every wish be bright and cheery for the holidays. Have an exciting day.

A word about the rejection you speak of: Rejection is a label we use meaning "not good enough." It's mostly a feeling of self-worth. There are many reasons having to do with rejection. Most of the time, it's not even about us. Our ego thinks it is, but it's not.

You have delivered a powerful message we all relate to. Thank you so much. Voted up, useful, interesting and shared on HP.

      Happiest of holidays to you,

      Audrey

billybuc I try to avoid obstacles, problems, mistakes, setbacks, failures, heartbreak, injuries, cuts and all the pain that comes with it. Even though with it I have these growth spurts that wouldn't of happened if I had my way. My so called "cuts" happen for a reason. Who would of ever guessed. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. Have a beautiful Thanksgiving where everyone stays happy and full. At least for the day and who knows maybe a lot longer.
