Where the Heart Walks the Soul Will Soon Follow

Updated on August 29, 2013

Where the heart chooses to walk the soul must soon follow
Hazy lit streets at dawn awaken the possibilities of redemption
Silhouetted form becomes human as shadows block the light
Grey skies divided between light and dark caution expectation
Through the windshield, eyes of alienation seek empty sidewalks
Each footprint lives in self-assured robotic egoism without regret
And when the cascade of failure drops their smirks into their bowels
To condemn or enable is the choice but the favored we always protect
What powerless man can feel the pride of honesty without wealth?
When beauty seeks its highest value a poor man knows his worth
Walking, walking until the footprints vanish into the subconscious
Empty sidewalks nourish a lone wolf with a soul no longer of this earth
