As I sat down to write today
I had some awful news
All of the happy thoughts I had were gone
I now look with a different view
A young man died yesterday
Decided that he could no longer live
He took his own short life
Decided he nothing left to give
I didn’t know him that well
I did know he had many friends
Most had talked to him this weekend
Some just before the end
But not one knew how troubled he was
Although they all really cared
No one thought he could take his own life
No one thought that he would dare
On his Facebook page now there are
Many sad notes about this young man
Friends all crying and denying
Friends who lost more than they can stand
It is a sad decision
When a person decides to die
It leaves all who are left
With only the question “Why?”
