The Other Writing Websites

Updated on August 8, 2014

I Got Sick of the Other Freelance Writing Websites

I got really sick, really fast.

Some of them claim to have a great payback, or a great percentage or whatever. I don't understand much about the payment business anyway. I decided to try these other websites because of these claims.

But, so far, none of them has really been okay at all.

Inside the Hard Disk? There's A Connection with the Topic of this Hub

What is this? Is it the inside of a hard disk?
What is this? Is it the inside of a hard disk?

Only the Beginning. Not just a song by Chicago.

I can't get links to work in articles that I write. In one website, I wrote about fifteen articles. On the first day of the article, I'd get three or four reads. After that --- for several months --- not a single read. So, these articles are just sitting there, doing nothing.

Well, okay, that could or might be MY fault, because I really didn't do much to publicize the articles. But, nevertheless . . . I mean, I did tag these articles with keywords at least.

As if That Weren't Bad Enough . . .

The worst thing of all, though, was that one of the websites --- which seems to have all kinds of tech problems --- refused to even publish the articles I wrote. First, they claimed there were too many "misspelled words".

Do you see any misspelled words around here?

Sheesh!

There was a French word in the article, and there were also some local brand names, and some city names. I guess they count those as "misspelled".

So, I tried to fix up the problems with these allegedly "misspelled words". I removed the city names, and the French word and the local brand names.

I tried to include links in my articles, but they just didn't work, and I couldn't get them to work. I tried so many times. Each time, the thing would just go haywire, and I'd end up with some partial link that didn't work at all. I always test my links.

But, then, they still didn't publish it because it wasn't good enough "quality" for them.

No Help Available

Okay, if they're going to discuss "quality," then let me see what the heck kind of standard they are using, to define it.

Otherwise, "quality" could mean anything.

I tried to look on the forums and things where you're supposed to go for help, but there were other problems there, too. First, before you can comment or post, you have to join some OTHER website --- even though you're already a member on the original, writing site.

Then, the forum staff give the nastiest answers to the members who ask questions.

So, I figured, I can't deal with these folks. Just let me delete my articles, and close my account.

Working Without Pay

Ahh --- but there's the real kicker.

They won't let me delete my articles, and there's no way to close my account. So, they have the articles sitting there. They have access to them, and they could be using my articles.

After these horrible experiences, I decided these other writing websites are not for me.

So, I think I'll just stick with Hubpages. Everything works well, and I've never had the kinds of problems as I've had on these other sites. Plus, the people are nice.

{No, they didn't pay me extra to say that.}

Enlightened?

I wish I had read this before I started my blog. But, it's still not too late. I think I can catch up. I like this book because there are many things I did not know in here.

Only two people have voted in the poll so far. Be sure to stop by and vote. I'd really like to see the input. Besides, the questions are fun.l

Thanks.
