Why do we settle?

Updated on September 21, 2015

Why do we settle?

Why do we settle

for less

put in a predicament

of pain.

So caught in lust

hoping to see love

to help our aims.

Tears of pain

some forever

we're not

clever

enough

to stop settling

for less.

Maybe it's to fill

that void

in our chest.

Maybe one day

we'll find closure

and

stop settling for less

until then

I don't know

"Why do we settle?"

Great question. So many answers. At the core is our belief in ourselves.

Makes us think. Always aim high, I say, but we do settle for less when we think we're not worth it or that it's the best we'll ever get.

If need be to survive we'll settle for less.

We settle for less when we feel like it is our only chance to survive.

We settle because there is not enough people willing to stand up in unity for what's right. We wait for one person to stand up, maybe some will join, while others are willing to be spectators giving opinions. The truth is we have the power and until we stand up in unity for what's right, nothing will ever change.

We settle out of fear that nothing better will ever come along. The only way to stop this is to build self esteem. Great piece!
