Widows Lament- A poem by my wife, I'm amazed

Updated on June 19, 2013

Title: Widow's Lament

I remember everything;

So nostalgic I can barely speak

Smelling your flesh sweat and tears

Mixed with your pain; sweat and beer

My eyes are burning and blood red

And every words spilling with regret

May I distract you and kiss your neck and If you let go you might forget...

Both of us tangling in a beautiful mess; A web of lies beating through our chests

I cant take back yesterday; but can change tomorrow if you stay

Your words carving like little knives

But I'm far from ready to walk away...

The daylights creeping in behind your black window blinds

Anxiety's seeping in and I'm long out of wine,

Take a breath and watch it pass sliding your fingers through mine

Forget this past and dry your eyes

This is all a dream.....

She sent me it via a text message and I decided to edit it a little and give it a title, this is really her first attempt at writing poetry and I found it to be really impressive, she had a lot of doubt toward her writing ability, it really shocked me to see how talented she is as a writer. =) Glad you enjoyed it.

Tell her to never doubt herself! I felt the same way, my anxieties held me back from sharing my work because I felt stupid. It is beautiful and well written, and I hope she writes more, and maybe someday joins the community here!

An artist can take many forms. I believe writing is an art form. Perhaps she could combine the two... create some artwork to go with a poem... Either way, its beautiful = )

She is striving to be a tattoo artist :) So I feel this will be something she has time for time to time...I will continue to post her things if she decides to continue writing, I like to support her artistic abilities One of her drawing is combined with a poem of mine "Holding On" is the title

Oh my goodness, that is amazing. I have some artistic abilities myself and have designed tattoos for multiple people. I would LOVE someday to be able to learn how to tattoo. I wish her very much good luck and hope she is successful!!! I will check out "Holding On" when I get a chance!

I was going to comment on this poem but decided to check your poem Holding On to see your wife's drawing. I'm in awe with both of you talented/artistic pair.

I can write but am not as good as my brother. I cannot draw at all and when I see one who can I am really amazed. Will be taking a look at your other poems. And I encourage both of you to write more and continue sharing your talent with us. Voted up and across, shared, tweeted and pinned.

Thank you so much that's such a compliment and we both appreciate your kind words. I view it like whether its writing or drawing... It improves overtime... You learn your strengths as you do it more as in content matter you express best... Never judge your ability as better or worse...just view it for the growths it takes on over time :)
