Wishing Well
I gaze down thru the darkness
searching for something more.
In my mind I am trapped
searching for a door.
The pain that closes in on me
puts pressure on my soul.
Survival thru the coming storm
is now my only goal.
I toss a pebble in the well.
Watch the ripples move away.
See the water now unchanged,
it's the same thing everyday.
It starts to pour upon my body.
I gaze up at the sky.
The storm clouds aren't so tricky
they do the same thing as my eyes.
Listen to the wishing well
pink, splash, splish, filling to the brim.
My wishes now are over flowing
this is very grim.
Watch my wishes one by one
as they fall upon the ground.
Forming a puddle at my feet,
I slowly watch them drown.
Feel the dampness as the sky
keeps throwing down the rain.
I feel the drumming from inside
I'm filling up with pain.
The water is rising faster now.
I climb upon the ledge.
I glance back at my washed out dreams
and step off of the edge.
My mind has played a trick on me
the water completely gone.
As I fall deep in the darkness
I gaze back at my last dawn.
