Words You Say, Hurt Badly

Updated on November 17, 2011

You can get hurt in a lot of ways.

Words hurt badly, and your heart decays.

Many things go wrong, and people anticipate.

I think people should appreciate.

Getting hurt is hard to get over.

Some people just do it without thinking, because they feel you are a pushover.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

It hurts sometimes to hear the words come out that way.

You try hard to do what you do.

And then everybody says the hell with you.

When you get older, the words hurt more.

But then again, who the hell wants to keep score.

Words hurt once, and then its twice.

I think you shouldn't say anything, if it's not nice.

People say things wrong, and they know they do.

You forgive, because that's you.

So in the back of your mind, you let go.

And sometimes the words that hurt, go away real slow.

So use your words wisely, and choose your words carefully, the way you should do.

Because one day those words will come back and climb in bed with you.

I am extremely disturbed to know that. Parents are meant to be treasured and respected, not to be wounded and hurt with unkind words and deeds. I will pray for your husband's health, please convey my best wishes to him.

Thank you Dr Kavita Shaikh for stopping by to read my hub. This poem was written with my husband's grown children in mind. I have seen my husband cry, so many times over the hurtful things they have said to him. He is very ill, and their words have weighed very heavily on his heart. Thank you for your comment.

Beautiful poem! It's saddening that people tend to overlook or ignore the effect that their words can leave on others. We truly need to use our words wisely and appropriately to avoid hurting others (intentionally / otherwise)Rated it up.
