Yesteryear's Spirit of Nostalgia.

Updated on April 2, 2013
Source

Good day to you all and I hope you all enjoyed your Easter weekends.

We spent Sunday afternoon taking photos of Cardigan Market Town which is only three miles from where we live and as our village of Cilgerran only has two shops this is where we go to do our weekly shops and also for clothes buying etc.

This hub skims the surface of the historic gems that Cardigan so proudly boasts, but over the next couple of weeks I shall be composing more in-depth hubs of each single historic gem.

In each separate hub I shall be covering the busy Port of yesteryear ; the thriving fishing industry and the farming community;the Granary; the Quay which today we know as Prince Charles Quay and the gentry who held the first Welsh National Eisteddfod ever in the Castle way back in 1158.

(An Eisteddfod is a Welsh Talent competition consisting of reciting,singing,piano playing ,humorous recites,choirs and many many more events. )

Back in time an Eisteddfod was for the gentry alone but today the social boundary has loosened.

Of course there will also be many scandals such as 'A Lady of the night' who was murdered in the Mwldan and many more !!!!!

Anyway I hope that you will enjoy today's hub along with our photos and of course to accompany 'The First Of May' by The Bee Gees .

Maybe not a great connection but to me the tune fits right in with the gems found nestling in our little Market Town.

Oh yes it felt right!!!

Personally I prefer this duet than Tom singing on his own!!!

Enjoy !!!!

Acrostic Poem : CARDIGAN.

Carved and formed with a golden heart seeping in true nostalgia

A paradise where time has stood still

Relishing in yesteryear's beauty

Deep prise from within

I share with one and all

Gracious and serene

A creation from a golden era

New faith;new hope;new love.

Renovations finally commence on the Castle Walls.

Such pride

Our Castle

Sweet flowing nostalgia

Great beauty flows in abundance

Restoring back to that olde worlde charm

Spirits cry to be recognised

Gentry's Eisteddfod days

A heritage

Such pride.

Rhyme : Olde Worlde Market Town.

One olde worlde Market town

History in excitement;

Such magnets of wonder

Each magical moment.

x

Time almost standing still

Each breath wondrously bated;

Inhaling deep fulfilment

Great eagerness sated.

x

Our prince Charles Quay

Great charms cascading;

Crowds in their hunger

Absorbing and believing.

x

The tale of Lord cardigan

A cannon seeped in tales;

Such history;many stories

Our Market Town in Wales.

Freeverse : So Quaint.

A Market Town

so quaint;

a commodity

where time

has almost stood still!!

The echoes of

a Seagull's cries;

filing a void,

almost uncouth

but also dangling

by a

golden thread

dipped in unconditional nostalgia!!

Those treasures of golden bliss;

Castle grounds

hidden buried relics;

a single turret

in younger years

a tower of strength.

Today basking in

the golden promise;

those very

first throws

of magnificent

renovation!!

A monument

Our Wildlife Park

acre after acre

of fields,

moors,

hideouts;

rivers,

streams

ponds!!

Mother Nature's Kingdom

aided by the kindness of true Welsh hearts.

Compassion so golden and true;

tenderness

unconditional and worthy of an award of golden hearts;

warmth and tenderness so wanting and so real;

innocence relishing

nature's laws respected.

A soothing balm to

the fallen

the hurt

and

the heartbroken!!

A balm to soothe

a balm to treat

and

a balm to share !!!

Selfless is Nature's magical love;

unconditional the love of each Mother

of each sibling

of each caressing

and

dependant babe.

Freeverse : Nostalgic Charm.

The Earl of Cardigan's nostalgic charm

to be enjoyed

in the form

of a cannon;

way back

from the days

of the

Crimean War.

So majestically adorns the steps

of our Guild Hall.

Carved and formed

from the Golden Heart of Nostalgia !!!!

I share so fondly

I care

I adore.

A confident paradise where time has stood still;

relics from yesteryear;

deep pride from within

I share

with one and all.

Gracious and serene!!

A creation made of

love and pride.

New faith;

new hope;

new love!!!

Well I hope you all enjoyed this one and tomorrow I shall have another on a little fishing village only two miles away from here called St. Dogmaels.

We called round there after taking these photos.

Enjoy your days and lots of love from my little corner of Wales to you all.

Eddy.
