You Don't Know Me- A Poem

When we first met, you said, "I like everything about you!"

But, we both know, honey....that was hardly true.

There's so much more to "me" than what meets the eye.

I'm complex- not one dimensional- my idiosyncrasies I can't deny.

If you only want to judge me for my accomplishments or mistakes.

You don't know how hard it is for "me" to be "me", you don't understand what it takes.

While you may look and say you like what you see

If you're only looking skin deep, you definitely don't know "me."

Sorry darling, but it's true.

I can't be "me" when I'm stuck here with "you."
