You Take My Eyes
Between earth and numinous night
I found forgotten eyes,
folded away in darkness--
they saw earth pine from loneliness
knew its swell
its birthing, salt and brine,
My eyes know
that this movement from dark to light
is but an instant in passing,
a surrender,
a glimmer in the night.
They are my gift to you
this conduit of souls.
I ask only that you lie with me
in the passing.
