Your Forbidden Fruit
Tempting Jazz
10/26/2012
I am at your center
I've been planted at your core
I am that tree sinners love
While those who judge abhor
I am that first temptation
I am a thing of lore
I'm deeply rooted tho short lived
I'll exist within you forever more
My fruit grows plump and juicy
Colors call you, bring you in
I feed off your desires
As your lips caress my skin
I feel the heat from your breath
Now we are both intertwined
And each time you pierce my fruit
You cross another line
Fragrant juices fill the air
You throw your head back in delight
The plan of only once has failed you
As you take another bite
Another oath forsaken
Another promise laid to waste
But you can't resist temptation
You're addicted to the taste
My leaves provide you shade
I bring you color, beauty bright
Everything seems perfect
Staying underneath me feels so right
I give you all of me
Because I only have 1 life
For every time you enjoy my fruit
There is a part of me that dies
Once I have withered
Once my lure begins to fade
You are left with a story
and the price that must be paid
So here is the golden question
Why have the tree at all
Tho Eve had different reasons
All humans were made to fall
Some will judge you harshly
Tho most will place blame on me
But rest assured that every human
Has planted their own seed
