Your root
Please ask some questions about your root...hmmmm! my cousin that is based in Belguim met one chick while on vacation in London and they fell in love with each other and soon their affair blossomed and he decided to just settle for the best coz according to him he saw the best in her. This cousin of mine is this hard-core think home philosophy minded guy, he notified me about the chick as they planned to come back to Nigeria to perform their traditional marriage rites.
Okay here we go...
They arrived in Lagos and I picked them at the airport then the next day we decided to call on few of our relatives, the first person we called on was a maternal aunty, I forgot to mention that we were both maternal cousins.
His mum is my mum's immediate elder sister(both late) and the aunty we called on is the youngest of the three sisters. As he introduced the apple of his eyes to Aunty, she signed at the mention of the chick surename then she rolled her eyes and was like wait... Anamba!
Now looking at our bride to be, she asked this question... Are you from Kwale?
The chick responded in the affirmative.
We were all like oooo so aunty knows the family, for me I can't remember what came to my mind because I was still processing how our 75years old aunty knew this family then she spoke again...
Nne, who is your father?
She responded Dr Mike Anamba.
At the mention of the name, aunty placed both hands on her mount and was like; what? Michael? Uwani's son or another Michael? Looking at each other, we were like, does aunty know her dad?
To cut a long story short...
It happened that our grandmother's mother (great grand mother) was a senior sister to Uwani and she was married into a family in our hometown from Kwale then she had our grandmother who was also married to another family in our hometown so naturally, this chick's dad and both our late mums and aunty are first cousins and automatically we are second cousins.
See how we are connected. The problem now is that the marriage was called off but the chick is three months pregnant and they have ruled out abortion though they have other plans but according to tradition, it's a taboo for them to marry talk more of having a child together. They say it's dancing with the spirit, a dirty dance.
(We are from Anambra state and this chick is from Delta state)
Do you know your relatives?
How well do you know your root?
Pass it on.
