You're My Gasoline - Lyrical Poem By Cathy Nerujen

Updated on January 11, 2017
You're My Gasoline
You're My Gasoline | Source

You're My Gasoline

There was no surprizin'
in the lack of my
disguisin' - that
my baby -
you're the
best I've seen

You are my Angel Mother -
Sweetie Sister - Sexy Lover -
cos now baby,
you're my gasoline

The times we go a-swimmin' -
are we sure that
we are women?
Honey mocha chocolate
coffee cream -

Source

Get in to this water -
and propose just like
you oughta -
cos my cutie
you're my gasoline

Running around, getting no where, and being dumb -
feeling the things I feel and feeling numb -

no more -

I want no more delayin'
cos I'm tired of all
the playin' -
and the paper mache
plasticine -

"Toss and Turn" - poetry by Marifel Dungo

Singing you this love song
means my heart is
poundin' so strong -
oh my honey,
you're my gasoline

Lie down here beside me -
kiss and hug me - don't
deny me -
can't you see the places
where I've been...

I had scares and haters -
ate their words with
mashed potatoes -
not like you -
cos
you're my gasoline -

Throwin' myself off the highest highs - and being low -
now to my surprise - you made this grow -
and grow and grow -
yes - you - you - you...

Now you made this happen -
look - my wings they
are a-flappin' -
oh my woman - Angel -
where've you been?

Hooked up with you baby -
means I'm never sayin'
maybe -
sayin' Yes -
cos you're my gasoline -

Source

Filled my cup - there's
no denyin'
have a beer, cos Fehl -
I'm buyin -
so here's to us -
yeah - you're my gasoline -

fill my tank - cos
you're my gasoline.

Sweet pure unleaded -
you're my gasoline.

you sexy lover -
you're my gasoline.

start my motor -
you're my gasoline -

- gasoline.

- gasoline.

For Fehl Dungo, the sweetest most amazing and most awesome woman in my life. I love you so much, Fehl. This poem and song is for you.

Hi Gypsy Rose Lee, I enjoyed writing this while on tour in Scotland recently. There is nothing quite like a nice holiday - so that I can relax and have that notebook ready to write poems. I find the musical side of my poetry poking through a lot in my work. And the people I love so much, and most of all Fehl... who inspired my poetry, is so amazing.

I love reading your hubs. Thank you for the nice comments. Have a sweet day. :)

Speechless and jaw on the floor now, Cathy! Brilliant! Stunning! I felt the music coming at me like a rocket in this Hub! That doesn't happen too often on Hub Pages!

Enjoyed the tempo of this beautiful piece of work, I felt the love, and the sensuality of every word to your lover. You are both stunning poets and your work reflects it so well. You had my feet a tapping under my desk. Great piece, bravo, applause. Tweeted and shared.

Very nice work. I must give credit to Vincent who shared this piece on FB. Thanks to him it look like I have discovered another wonderful poet.

Well written poetry, the rythym reminds has kind off a jazz feel to it. Awesome. Thank you for sharing. Jamie

The tempo of this poem makes it seem like the lyrics of a song. As I read, it seemed like a song (I think my toe was tapping, too, Vincent.) Perhaps you should write music to accompany your poetry or find a musical collaborator. Your poetry appears to be waiting to become a song.

Cassy - wow. Just wow, and thank you. Yes our trip resulted in some nice poetry writing I managed to sneak in, amongst other things, such as getting lost in the highlands of Scotland with nothing but goats to bellow mockingly at us from the roadside. Hehehe. What a bizarre holiday. Next time, um... can I do the driving? And you leave the bloody GPS at home, please? Hehehe. Mwah.

Hi Vincent. Gosh what a terrific comment from you here. Feet tapping under the table? Are you sure you weren't listening to Leonard Cohen. Go on. You can tell me. Hehehe.

Love brings out the poetry in me, Vincent. The amazing people I love and am so crazy about inspire me. There is a story and poem, and yes even a song in every nook and cranny and corner if only the time is taken to explore them. Every poet is an explorer. So I know readers here can relate, and you relate so well, Vincent.

I wrote a new blog today and added a little something extra for Vincent Moore fans.

My pen and journal are itching to get busy with more poetry, as there are beautiful and amazing things to write about in this amazing world. Feel free to check out my other poetry on HubPages. Thank you Wayne and also Vincent for the tweets and likes on Facebook. You guys rock. :)

Hi Jamie. Yes the poem just came out this way. I had music on my mind, as Adam F famously once said in a song he produced (in the album Colours"). Poetry comes from many places with me. Writing happens when the inspirational tank is full. And this is the story of my life because of my sweet Angel in my life, Fehl. I have to yell my message from the hilltops. LoL. Music and poetry are close cousins as all song writers know so well.

Your comment about jazz is very interesting. I am a slowly developing jazz fan thanks to Cheeky Girl (Cassy). Her immense music listening range is growing on me, as is her capacity to absorb all kinds of beautiful music. (She has also that common trait with Colin Stewart - aka Epigramman on Hub Pages.)

Yaye - thank you for the comment. Like Jamie before you, music has been revealed as a common factor in some of my poems. So perhaps I should not be surprised that a lot of music groups are starting to follow me on Twitter. Some people just somehow get the word through the grapevine I guess. I don't mind the music connection at all.

A poet can turn a poem into just about anything if she or he puts a mind to it. There is a lot to be said about just where in the human spirit that poetry comes from... For me, it comes from the heart. And it is written for a very beautiful lady. :)

Oh, about the music collaborator thing... I seem to have some in the offing...

Thank you for the nice comments. Have a sweet day. :)

Hi bravewarrior - yes the music here is very obvious. And it proves the connection between poetry and music. Yes, a video is a heck of a great idea. I wonder how I could do that...? Some food for thought there. Thank you for this.

      Have a sweet day. :)

Hi Valleypoet, thank you for this. :)

A tank full of gasoline indeed. LOL. My lyrical tendencies are running away with themselves these days, Hehehe. I am a dyed-in-the-wool poet. I can't help myself. LOL.

I am happy to share this with you. Feel free to check my other recent poems. I have a few more new ones coming soon.

Hi thelyricwriter, it is great to get your comments on my "You're my Gasoline" poem. I know you are in to lyrics in such a big way.

I think everyone can find something in a poem that they can relate to at some level eventually. I enjoy the play on words and the sounds as they collide in lyrical form. Music can make that work so well. It's nice to be able to see poetry and sometimes ... almost imagine "hearing" it.

Thank you for sharing my hub today. You are awesome. :)

Wow Astra, this is an amazing poem/love song. I love it. Can't believe I have only just found a poet of your quality here on hub pages through a comment you left on another hub. I have been here for four years as well.

Your style is so unique. Great work, voted up.

      G'day Jodah -

Gee, I am getting plenty of readers loving my poetry these days. Thank you so much. This one is definitely one of my own favorites for Fehl, my baby. The words speak for themselves. You are welcome to check out my other poems of course. Lots of my poems are meant to be either musical or lyrical.

Um, there are plenty of quality poets here on Hubpages. Check out blaise25, Nikki Jordan, Janika Lee Reyes, Acaetnna Dim Flaxenwick ... there are so many. They leave comments on my hubs. Hubpages might not encourage poetry as much as other kinds of writing, but I love reading poetry here. I am publishing a collection of my poetry this year. I will be advertising it in Flashstar magazine when it is ready....

      Four years on HubPages, wow.

Thank you for the nice comments. I am smiling now. Best wishes to you, Joe.

Congratulations on publishing a poetry collection this year. I'm working to that end myself. I will work my way through your poems, and please feel free to check out mine as well. I write mainly poetry, wth a few articles and stories thrown in to help keep my hub score up and practice other forms of writing.

Thank you Jodah. Books for poets ... it is the natural progression, the way to go as a poet. I know I am kind of late to the party, but better late than not publish at all. My poetry is almost all romantic in genre. And I am very inspired to write...

You sound like you are writing a long time, Jodah. Well done on deciding to publish your own book. I will check out more of your hubs and your writing. :)
