Zombie Defense (part two)
Haste Zombie Defense
A haste zombie defense is a defense in which you are not planning on staying for a long time. It would be used to get some rest for the night or stop and eat or regain your bearing. When looking for a spot to set up a haste defense against zombies you’re going to want to make sure it is secure and possibly elevated as you would a long term defense. You don't want to be trying to sleep and have zombies start to overrun you. That is not good for your health or you’re moral. Also you want to try to make it to this spot in secrecy so that zombies don’t surround it preventing you from getting out. All of these things need to be taken into consideration to ensure that you have chosen a good solid defensive position. A good example of a good haste defense position would be a brick building with solid doors and multiple stories with locking doors on each floor. An apartment building would be good for this because there is usually a back escape route if needed. When entering your position you want to be as stealthy as possible as to not attract attention to your stop ensuring you won't have any crowding problems throughout the night. I you have multiple people expect to split up the hours so someone is always awake on watch because you can never trust your defensive position no matter how good it is.
Snap Zombie Defense
A span zombie defense is a defense in which you are forced into because you are in danger or trying to hide from something. This is the type of defense you see in movies when the characters are being chased and they just jump into a building to get away from chasing or surrounding zombies. Whenever you are moving anywhere you want to always keep an eye out for the best stop to go in case something happens. If you are constantly thinking about that you will make better decisions when you have to. A snap defense should not e occupied for more than an hour. As soon as you set up into a snap defense you should be coming up with plans to get out of there and move on. Any lockable building with multiple exits would be good for a snap defense. You don't have to worry about setting up a watch rotation as you will not be staying there very long.
Things to Think About with all Zombie Defenses
There are things that are similar for all defenses that you have to make sure always get attention. All zombie defenses need multiple escape routes so that if one gets blocked up you can dash out your secondary. Another thing to keep an eye out for is items inside your defensive position. When running from zombies it will be hard for someone to remember to search the room you enter for supplies. Yes you need to worry about leaving if it's only a snap defense, but you’re already there so mine as well check the place over for anything useful. In movies I always watch the characters fail to check everything. Who knows what you might find.
If you are alone trying to survive all of these defenses are still doable you just need to do them at a smaller scale and make sure that you are stealthy as your main defense. If they don't know where you are they will not find you. If you don't have to be alone try not to be by being nice to any survivors you find and trying to work with them. It’s easier to survive and get things done long term if you have a well-established group of dependable survivors. All in all, the zombie defense is never a guarantee and you always have the potential for a zombie attack to get inside. You can prevent the probability of this though by being thorough with putting your defense together and having great attention to detail when making sure everything is secured.
