A True Meeting - Poetry

Updated on February 3, 2014
A True Meeting
A True Meeting

You know me as a Dane in Spain - but my real name is Dorte Holm Jensen.

I have been writing poetry in my mother tongue, which is Danish, since I was 12 years old. I even published a collection of poems years back...but now finally -  I am coming out of the "Poetry-Closet" in English.

A True Meeting

As see-through

as newly polished glass

is your well-arranged facade

failing to hide your unspoken cry

for acceptance

As loud

as raindrops on a tin roof

is the sound of frozen tears

rattling against each other

in your silence

As sharp

as needles through your skin

is the awareness

that I am equally

transparent to you

Thank you attemptedhumour. Being a writer can be a lonely occupation as I am sure you are aware of. So it's good to know that there are SOMEBODY out there listening and reading. Looking forward to have a look at your writing.

Hi, A Dane in Spain, GREAT read. Amazing wording. Voted all but FUNNY. You touched me with this poem. Reminds me of a few meetings I had back in my youth. Ahhh, youth. The illusive fog that deceives and then takes the next breath out. I am so sorry that I havent been around that much to visit with you. Ive been getting as many projects done before my health worsens. I DO VALUE you as my follower and distant friend. You are a superb writer. And I wish for you and yours, a Merry Christmas.

Thanks a lot for your comments and votes, Kenneth! I'am so SORRY I have missed this comment for so long - I normally get a notification, but this one I missed.

I am amazed about your productivity and I am looking forward to get a bit more time to spend reading more! Thanks again!

Wow, I felt those words deep within me. Simple and effective; precise. Very good poetry, thank you.

It can be disheartening to see through someone so completely to the point that one can no longer see them as they were when you first met, and cruel indeed to be thrust into the present of a mutual demise, hearkening for the ideals each one held of the other, in the hope of it magically become that desired reality. That is what I saw in your verse, though the authoress might be the only key to fell those private tumblers to reveal its full understanding.

Enjoy a lovely evening and thank you.

      With Kind Regards,

      R.Q.

You are very welcome, and thank you for stopping by, Romeos Quill. Yes, you are absolutely right!

This is the painful, gruesome if you wish, moment - where the naked truth is revealed right in front of you. And there is nothing you can do to turn back time or change autumn back to summer...
