Bob Druwing Song Lyrics
Beatrice
Beatrice was a Goddess
Beatrice was an omen
Beatrice was an instant
A moment
Beatrice was a stranger
Beatrice was an other
Beatrice was a waitress
A lover
Beatrice was a priestess of Abraxis
She was all good and all bad
She had male and female qualities
He worshiped her on holidays
Beatrice was a dream that he had
Sinclair was in love with her
He painted her portrait
He kept it on his easel
And he bowed before it
He left it to get rained on
-She was his universal Mother-
He was glad for it
She was a universal lover
Beatrice was a priestess of Abraxis
She was all good and all bad
She had male and female qualities
He worshiped her on holidays
Beatrice was a dream that he had
Beatrice was a girl in the park
She was the truth and the lie
Beatrice was the light and the dark
Beatrice was an image in the sky
Beatrice was his inspiration
Beatrice was his mistress
She was his imagination
His wishes
Beatrice was awakening
She was his recovery
His revitalization
Beatrice was discovery
Beatrice was a priestess of Abraxis
She was all good and all bad
She had male and female qualities
He worshiped her on holidays
Beatrice was a dream that he had
Beatrice was a dream that he had
Beatrice ........
........was a dream that we have

Caveman
I'm just a caveman for your love, baby
A crazy brave man for your love
It's got me primitive
I'd take a club to the whole world
For you to be my own cavegirl
'Cause I'm just a caveman for your love
Civilization's over-rated; my appetites
Can not be satiated
In a place so regulated
I'd blow it all right to the bone age
To go with you back to the stone age
'Cause I'm just a caveman for you love
I know you think I've got rocks in my head
Just because everyone who thinks like me's a
million years dead
But I know
Unless your heart is made out of stone
You'd never leave me here all alone
And I'm just a caveman for your love.......
(instrumental verse)
I know you think I'm a Ne-an-der-thal
Just because I think we should burn the towns
and
level the malls
But I know
If you were just a natural girl
You'd never modernize the whole world
And I'm just a caveman for your love
This world is only what we make it, baby
Coming out of nature's a mistake
It's a dead-end street
I'd give it all to whoever'd take it
To drag you on back to my cave naked
'Cause I'm just a caveman for your
A crazy brave man for your
I'm just a caveman for your love, baby
I'm just a caveman for your ------ love!

How You Play The Game
I don't believe in love anymore
I think it's all just a game
And win or lose, it don't matter anymore
To me it's all the same
It's just how you play the game
I don't believe anything's real anymore
I think the whole world's gone insane
I don't believe I want to feel anymore
'Cause I just can't stand the pain
Of how you play the game
chorus:
I used to believe in love and understanding
I used to believe in truth and honesty
I used to believe in caring
Until I found that no-one was caring..about me
I don't believe in magic anymore
I don't believe in dreams coming true
Belief in comedy..seems tragic to me now
'Cause you don't believe...in me and you
(and I can't believe we're through)
Bridge:
Some people play to win
Some people play to lose
Some people play at sin
Even though it breaks the rules
Some people play at love
Some people play for fun
Some people play as two
And some people.....play as one
I don't believe in love anymore
I think it's all just a game
And win or lose it don't matter anymore
To me it's all the same
It's just how you play the game
....It's just how you play the game
.....I don't believe in love anymore

Your Only One
I don't want to be the one to go
I don't want to be the last to know
If we're not one hundred percent
Like I told you from the start
I don't want to hear one good-bye
Don't even want to give that a try
I don't want to be the one in love
And be the one with a broken heart
I just want to be one half
of one and one is two
I just want to be someone
who's half of me and you
I just want to be the one
you can't be divided from
I just want to be the one
that you will decide upon
when summin' up is through
and you know that one alone is one too few
I don't want to be one of your friends
Unless I am your one and only man
I don't want to be one torn in two
Don't want to be alone in love with you
I just want to be the one
to multiply your dreams
The whole is greater than the sum
if one and one is you and me
I just want to be the one
you won't have subtracted from ya
Just want to be the one
always attractive to ya
To be the one who
knows just how to do
what you want your man to
I don't want to be the one alone
Don't want to be the only one at home
I don't want to see us come undone
I just want to be your only one
I just want to be the one
you've always dreamed about
I just want to be the one
that you can't do without
I want to be the one
you've added to your family
And multiply some
if you want to add to you an' me
a daughter or a son
if we decide that one and one
is still short one
I don't want to be the one alone
Don't want to be the only one at home
I don't want to see us come undone
I just want to be your only one
I just want to be your only one
i just want to be your only one!

Playing With Matches
You like striking matches
You like lighting the fuse
You like starting fires
You won't wait around to lose
So you run when the flames are high
When the heart is finally afire
Why is it that your torch of love
Only leads to a funeral pyre?
Chorus I:
You like playing with matches
You like lighting fires
You like playing with matches
You like lighting fires
And making them burn out
And making them burn out
You put me through such changes
You like being chased
You like running away from love
You love creating waste
You exceed the limits
You like breaking the rules
You like playing chicken
You like acting cruel...You like having a fool!
Chorus 2:
You like pushing the limits
You like breaking the rules
You like pushing the limits
You like breaking the rules
You like creating doubt
You like planting seeds
You like making things grow
You like cutting them down again
You like saying "no"
You like going fishing
You like getting them hooked
You like throwing them back in the stream
Without a second look
(repeat Chorus I)

Discovery
If I discovered you,
who would you be?
If you dicovered me,
what would you see?
What are we looking for?
Is there a "we"?
Or am I all alone out here
Pursuing false destiny?
Chorus:
If I met your eyes
would there be chemistry?
If we set out to find
would there be discovery?
Where do we go from here,
Up or down?
Will we be satisfied
With what we've found?
Are we afraid to fail?
Do we intend on success?
A journey of a thousand miles
Begins with a first step
Chorus II:
Is there anything out there?
Are we on the right track?
Do you want to go further?
Do you want to go back?
BRIDGE:
I can't see into the future
If I could there'd be no mystery
I can't see into the future
If I could there'd be no discovering
What is this mountain?
Are we trying to climb?
Will we stumble and fall
Or step out of line?
Where are we going?
Are we on the right path?
Is this our first chance
Or is this our last?
Chorus III:
Are you the someone
I've been dreaming of?
Is this all just a dream
Or have we discovered love?
If I discovered you
who would you be?

Goodnight Hollywood Blvd.
The red carpet from the Chinese Theater
Has been rolled up and stored away
The fans and the paparazzi
Have deserted The Walk Of Fame
Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard
The show's over for one more day
From Gower to LaBrea
There's not a stretched limo in sight
The Egyptian and El Capitan
Have locked their doors up tight
Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard
The show's over for tonight
(bridge)
The celebrities and the wannabes, the somebodies and nobodies, all but the cabbies,
cops and homeless are gone it seems
The klieg lights are off; the subway trains have all stopped
Everyone's asleep and dreamin' of...
Wakin' up tomorrow to that...
Boulevard of dreams...
'Cause the next superstar is just around the bend
Starrin' in the next blockbuster, in the land of make pretend
You can say, "Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard",
But the show never really ends
You can say, "Goodnight...goodnight Hollywood...
"Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard...."
You can say, "Goodnight Hollywood Boulevard",
But the show....never really ends

Everything
I know a girl with a beautiful smile
Who wouldn't hesitate to go the extra mile
To do the right thing with her heart in the right place
And I know that's just what keeps that smile on her face
I know a girl who's made out of light
She's not too hot; she's not too hard; she's . . . just right
I know a girl with the means and the plan
A girl with the world in the palm of her hand
Chorus:
And I can't help myself
I just gotta sing
'Cause I know a girl who has everything
Yeah, I know a girl
Who has everything
I know a girl with higher ideals
And when she laughs . . . she squeaks and she squeals
I know a girl who knows how it feels
To be overflowing with female appeal
I know a girl with a burning desire
An' I know a girl whose imagination's on fire
I know a girl with love for the world
An' I'm just a boy with love for a girl
Chorus:
And I can't help myself
I just gotta sing
'Cause I know a girl who has everything
Yeah, I know a girl
Who has everything

Don't Be Afraid
Don't look for something that isn't there
And look to yourself first for happiness
Don't break your heart over one who won't care,
When all the illusions are laid to rest
But don't be afraid of loving
The one who makes you feel good
And don't hesitate to give 'em
Everything you feel like you should
'Cause when you love someone, nothing else matters
And those who make you feel right will be few
Love is dif'rent for everyone
Some people turn and run
And some of 'em are gonna wanna love you
Be on your guard not to misjudge
Another person's way of living
Don't be too quick to misunderstand
Another person's way of giving
But still you gotta know how to recognize
When someone just don't want you around
Don't break your heart going crazy over someone
Who's only gonna put you down
But if you love someone, let nothing else matter
An' always try to make 'em feel right
And if you can't accept the love of one
Ever turn away and run,
Find out why...if it takes all your life

She Comes To Me
My baby she's so beautiful
She would have tempted Jesus
She does just what she wants to do
And comes and goes as she pleases
She plays by her own rules
And she fools all the young fools
But when her foolin' around is through
She comes to me
My woman is so wicked
She makes Lolita look like a saint
Her momma calls her a harlot
She spends no time proovin' she ain't
She hypnotizes the boys like a witch
She doesn't care if you think she's a bitch
But when no one can scratch her itch
She comes to me
(bridge)
And I always take her back
And I always take her in
And I help cover up her tracks
And I always forgive her sins
My vixen's so voluptuous
She makes Marilyn look like a man
If anyone can get my life
Bet your life she can
She doesn't give me all of her time
I know I don't have her whole heart and mind
But when she needs someone to help her unwind
She comes to me
My lady she's so lovely
In her Frederick's of Hollywood gown
Last night I was watchin' her movin' 'round in that thing
And the cellar stairs I went tumblin' down
I just went flyin' and I smacked my head
She came a-shufflin' down to see if I was dead
And she hauled me on off to bed
Where she comes to me

Drawn To The Light
Heaven knows
I turned coincidence into accidence
Heaven knows
I let my scales be tipped by happenstance
I've been tossed by waves and pushed
by the passing of the masses
And in the darkness I
saw the light in flashes
How I settled for less so often
and got this far
Heaven knows
When I saw darkness
at the end of the tunnel
I crept like a thief in the night
Now I flow
Free of resistance
For I'm drawn to the light
When all I would make was noise
Silence was all I craved
Now I hear the sound of my own laughter
In harmony with the wave

White Boy (In a Colored World)
I'm just a white boy
in a colored world
Better wear some camouflage
Gotta find me a streetwise girl
Gotta learn just how to fit in
I can't afford to stick out
Don't feel like one of the guys
and there ain't no doubt
I'm just a white boy - white boy, white boy
in a colored world
I'm just a pale face
I feel so out of place
Like some kind of outsider
to the whole human race
Can't get nowhere with the girls
because I can't even dance
Wanna ask 'em out on the floor
but I don't dare take a chance
'Cause I'm just a white boy - white boy, white boy
in a colored world
(bridge)
You know I feel so outnumbered
in a crowd
And I'm screamin' inside, 'cause I don't dare
to out loud

Seducing The Wind
It's an uphill climb
No one holds your safety line
You go it alone
And there's no other way to go
You don't follow tracks
And you don't look back
And nothing's in the way
over which the wind won't blow
So you do what the wind does
Even as the air thins out
You pick the path of least resistance
And you flow
(chorus 1)
There's no game plan
No precedent for playing to win
Intuition your only ally
When you're seducing the wind
(bridge)
Have you ever wondered
How birds follow each other in flight
Or how it is you've always
Found a way in the night?
The heart of the beholder
Imagines beauty into sight
There are none so blind
As those who will not feel the light
It's an uphill climb
No one holds your safety line
You go it alone
And there's no other way to go
(chorus 2)
There's no language
Listening to the heart within
Whispering in the din
Seducing the wind

Left-handed Girl
I fell in love with a left-handed girl
She's the one drivin' me crazy
She loves me and she loves me not
Like pickin' petals off a daisy
No, I wasn't jokin', but she treated me just like a fool
I fell in love with a left-handed girl
An' tried to play by right-handed rules
I fell in love with a brown-eyed woman
Underneath an October sky
She'd turn me on and she'd turn me off
I fell in love with her eyes
We could have gone the limit,
But it all happened on the fly
I fell in love with a left-handed girl
Flirtatious, but as reckless as I
(bridge)
I know that I have been a frivolous guy
An' I been caught with my fingers in the pie
But I had to lose a woman and I had to cry
And I can't accept it's just another time gone by
I fell in love with a left-handed girl
She wouldn't hold my hand in the park
She'd pick me up and she'd put me down
She'd only fool around in the dark
I didn't know I was dreamin',
But she soon shook me awake
I fell in love with a left-handed girl
Who took about all she could take
(bridge 2)
I been treated mean; I been treated cruel
And all the time thought I was nobody's fool
But I had to be so tough; I just had to be so cool
Each time I thought I'd learned them right, she'd change all the rules

Snow White
You go to see the rockman high on cocaine
You watch his ass; your old man knows you'd rather be backstage
And when he came off tired sweating hot, he would be yours
You'd give him cocaine loving and he'd give you encores
You drive too fast stoned at night on strange roads in the rain
You remember you feared and loved Snow White, much as you do cocaine
And when you came away angry and confused, you had been hers
You loved her look and wanted her love; she wanted too much first
(bridge)
Snow White, you could have had me sane
You had me crazy
Snow White, you kept me busy and hazy
I was exhausted
and gettin' lazy
You had to go your way
I had to take my place
You had to run your race
I needed to fill your space
Things were so much simpler before you became a star
When you had a chance to stand up there and just play your guitar
And when you came off sweating hot and tired, if they called for an encore
You knew you weren't just snow-blind, keeping up a snow white score
(repeat bridge)

Close Enough For The Blues
We never got close enough to fall in love
Though I know that's what we were try'n' to do
We never got close enough that we'll really miss
The things we got close enough to
Doing exactly the way
Exactly the way that we wanted to
But somehow
We got close enough for the blues
We never got close enough for you to be my baby
Or close enough it breaks my heart
That now even friendship is only a maybe
We never got close enough to keep from fallin' apart
I can't express to you some of
The things we never got close enough to
But somehow
We got close enough for the blues
bridge:
We never got close enough
To avoid the sadness
That lingers like stale perfume
We were just barely close enough
To get past the madness
That comes from bein' too close in too small rooms
We never got close enough
That you thought it might be
All of your dreams comin' true
But somehow, yeah baby, somehow
Somehow we got close enough for the blues

Hollywoodland
Got myself a place just up the road a piece
From where that famous actress bought the farm
Five more years of celluloid dreams
In the sunshine state; what could be the harm?
My closest friends are cacti
Or digital transmissions on the phone
(With the exception of brothers and sisters)
Still, my paper-thin walls make it a home
The mail comes by way of The Twilight Zone
And at Rock and Roll Ralph's it's always the same
The swimming pool filters generate electronic fields
That mess with my TV and I can't remember names.
But the weather is just the balls in Southern California,
So when it rains you've got to ask yourself why
You put up with the downside of life in Hollywoodland
And you're so alive that you could die
I mean the sirens never seem to stop
And all night long the choppers chop
And the all car chase channel is coming
Sure as I know my own name
So I filter all the noise to hear nothing but jazz
As I cruise down Sunset in my mid-fifties car
I see myself on the silver screen
And I work with people the world calls stars
And the weather is always just the balls in Southern California
So when people start hydroplaning into each other you wonder why
You put up with the downside of life in Hollywoodland
And you're so alive that you could die

Change
Didn't listen when they said, "no"
Empowered myself to change
I found different ways to grow
Empowered myself to change
Drank my fill for all it's worth
Stuck my toes in the native earth
Watched the mother wolf give birth
Empowered myself to change
Knew out west I had to go
Empowered myself to change
Fell in love with the scent of New Mexico
Empowered myself to change
Seen the signs of what came before
Seen the other side of bolted doors
Fought in the war against the war
Empowered myself to change
Learned the religion of every man
Empowered myself to change
Saw love at the core of every plan
Empowered myself to change
Thought things through a double-check
Learned to reverse cause and effect
And create dreams of what is next
Empowered myself to change
Allowed nothing to be nothing
Empowered myself to change
Spoke and heard and saw no evil
Empowered myself to change
I dissolved a mental block
Turned up the melody and turned off the talk
Visualized the entire clock
Empowered myself to change
(Half a verse of instrumental)
Saw where to stop; saw when to go
Where to go fast; when to go slow
You believe me and I know
Empowered myself to change
