Blossom

Hey pretty baby, please stop crying.
I'm here to tell you, it'll be alright.
I know you haven't laughed in quite a while.
You're a gift, I wanna see your smile.

Hey pretty baby, why don't you see
the greatest beauty is the black sheep?
Your talent shines in the journals you keep.
Don't worry, you'll figure out what I mean.

Hey pretty baby, believe in karma.
He's gonna pay for what he did to ya.
Look closer at me, I'm your future.
We'll be alright, so don't give up.

Hey pretty baby, I know things are unclear.
But you're gonna learn to live without fear.
It won't be today or even next year.
You'll be a champion fighter, my dear.

Hey pretty baby, you can't satisfy
others, they're haters so please stop tryin'.
It won't be long before you realize
those simple whores envy your life.

You tried real hard, but gave up plenty times.
You cried in your room and thought to take your own life.
When you jumped from the ledge, you learned you had wings.
Once again, I tell you girl, things are never what they seem.

In their weakest moments,
the greats don't know they're great.
They don't even understand
why when they're on their way,
nothing stops them....

They just blossom.

That's why she named you Blossom.

Dedicated to Aunt Cheryl

Thanks a lot! I have an aunt who calls me Blossom, so the poem felt really natural to do while using that word. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

It's good to be able to take a step back in time and remember where we were long ago and to see how far we've come, especially when the journey has been difficult. Being able to express it in a creative outlet like poetry is both beautiful and therapeutic. I like how you associated the name blossom with how you emerged and blossomed into the person you are today.
