Changes in my Writing Career.

Updated on April 1, 2013

In times of looking for a real writing job, I feel it’s time I start making major changes in this aspect of my life. I’ve tried and tried to find a writing job to subside my income but have been unsuccessful as to finding any writing job out there as I had in years prior through other sources. “Accolades” do not pay the bills so they really have no meaning to me what so ever. It’s a real job I am seeking and wanting the most.

I am not out to get rich off of my articles but I do need to subside my income, and when I signed up on Hugpages years ago. I had big hopes and dreams to at least earn some sort of paycheck or obtaining an agent/publisher to continue to write which I have been very unsuccessful as to doing such. Therefore, I just write to keep my name out there, which may have been a mistake in the end.

I feel it’s time to start making changes in my career. I love to write, I love to express what I am feeling, I love to express certain topics but the followers in which I have is at its minimum. I’ve tried everything I know, to bring up the stats and my score but have been unsuccessful, and yes, I do know why. People are either too lazy to read now days or they just don’t care about certain topics I produce that they are mostly into their own lives. This is like hitting a brick wall concerning my writing.

I’ve made up my mind as to what I will do as soon money allows. This is publishing my own stuff in a real book. I am talking all of my manuscripts, all of my articles, All 800 poems of mine as well. A good friend of mine will be helping me once I clear up some aspects in my life to where I can devote a lot more and more time to my writing, on top of getting my farm up and running. Many people love what I write. Many can’t wait to see what I write but some are too lazy to share what I write.

Posting on pages such as this, results in one of two things, the first thing is there are many sharks out there, they go on these pages and steal others work, revamp your work to make it theirs. The second thing is no matter how good your article is, people either don’t read them or share them or they put it aside for years to come. There is no promoting ones article on here unless you have featured articles in which Hubpages don’t pay you for. In order for you to be paid, you must just sell advertising slots on your Hubpages for Hubpages.

What writer wants advertising to sell others products when they are trying to sell their own product? Not me, then what say you receive a check. AdSense you have to sell $100.00 worth of advertiser products in order to obtain a paycheck. Come on why promote others items when you have articles out there your own to sell. Why doesn’t the advertiser sell your item to scratch your back, as they want you to scratch theirs? This is not happening.

This world is backwards in its thinking let me tell you. I became a writer to not only express what I see in this world, how I feel in this world but also let others learn from my experiences in the world. This has not worked. I have many articles, which are still mine that I would love to share but am unable to because they had been printed on other sites years ago. My God, I still own all of these articles. I still have the copywrite to all of my articles and have not sold them to any one person; my name is still on all of these articles in which are on other pages. I have many more articles written in which are not published which are to come.

I will post some here and there but not all of them for I need to earn an income not sell others products to subside my income. If I were, a sales person I would be out selling items for other people and companies as a regular sales job, not waste time on this computer selling others items making them rich and making sure they have a paycheck.

It’s time I do something for my career for a change and not help others succeed while I am unable to pay my own bills. It’s time to move on with my writing career. It's time to move on and move forward.

Like most careers and business decisions, it’s time for a change in the way I do things. This is the most important business decision of a writer’s life. Whether or not you’re a seasoned writer or a novice writer, one must do what is best for your business for that is what writing articles is about, it’s a business. In order to move forward in your business different changes must occur to make your business a successful business. It’s time to take the next step in my writing career.

Some things work well on the internet and some work better published elsewhere. To make it on the internet, you need how to articles and such. Yes, it is tiresome if that isn't what you enjoy writing. If you enjoy poetry and fiction, go for it and look for a book publisher. If you don't find that you could try it as an ebook on Amazon. Ebooks don't need to be sold just on Amazon. There are multiple places that they sell and you can do all of them at once. Best of luck.

Wyoming Wonder, at some point or other we do need to decide what to do next. Not every rainbow stays on and on...nor is there a rainbow on every rainy day. I wish you good luck and I do think it is better to try to go for publishers who may be able to give you more active support and suggestions on how to market your products too. I am however going to share this hub, and maybe one of them may have some other idea to offer.
