Dead Clocks

Updated on March 29, 2015
Source

Why is time flying as I'm aging?

Why do I become past due

before I’m early?

The clock is out to stop me.

Who’s out to hurt me?

I’ll send a prayer to the sky

for you myself.

I simply vanish my enemies

by breathing out.

Why not let out a smile?

That’s like watering the plants

surrounding their graves

with my piss.

I’m shy with kindness

cause time is never kind.

It is a cruel monster.

It’ll speed up,

but won’t slow down for ya.

When you try to catch up,

you embarrass yourself.

I wish we could bring the good times back.

At 22, should I really be missing the good ol’ days?

What changed that made me start working

just for pay?

When did men become good

for just one thing?

I loved, I laughed,

I explored and I ate.

I was a student in my craft.

Now, I'm just mad

and I throw fits

that weaken my intelligence.

I think I'm 5 steps ahead

because I see the world for what it is:

Cruel and heartless.

I blend in perfectly.

My souls were once on fire, but haven’t been sparked

in so long.

Yes, I said souls. Yes that's plural.

Don’t tell me I’m so wrong.

I know what my life is.

I can't give my heart away

to leave another fool spoiled.

I'm not missing out on anything.

how much time am I wasting

taking back the love

you stole from me?

The hate you give…

I am the hate you gave

Tic-toc, I see your grave.

Remember I'll always be a minute away

as cruel as time.

I’ve got hell in my hands,

stress in my mind

and pain in my heart.

They add up to blood on my rhyme.

I can’t wipe the blood from my rhyme.

It’s like having a stain on something white.

I can’t force these demons out of my life.

I haven’t given up,

I’ve given it a thousand tries.

I’ve accepted the truth

a battle I can’t win isn’t worth the fight.

I won’t say I let myself lose.

You think I loss?

I guarantee

I won’t let you find proof.

Regardless of what you do you won’t stop me.

What’s spookier than perfect timing?

Ryem, awesome poem! I love how it all revolves around time, which is more valuable then money. I miss the old days very much, but I know I can't live in the past. I use too and it was leave me depressed. Nothing wrong with revisiting good times though. Make every second count! Awesome job! Voted up, awesome, and interesting.

Hey Jo, thank you for your comment! I'm really grateful for your kind words and appreciation of my work.

Tobusiness, I really love those 3 words: Passion, power and pain. I think we've all had those moments where time has slipped away from us. Thank you for commenting!

Passion, power and pain comes to mind as I read this, you did a great job of putting feelings into words. I can sooo relate to the fast forwarding of time, I can never seem to catch up.

      Nice work, well done
